How bad is the traffic between Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay? Weekdays vs weekends?

We may need to change our Wed or Fri trip to BG to a Sat. Surely the park will be more crowded (though we might use quick queue if it's really bad)... but will this at least give us less traffic between Orlando and Tampa?

I've driven between the two many times,at least 40-50 times and only once did I get stop and go traffic. There's pretty much always a good amount of traffic but like I said, only once did it seriously slow down.I don't think I've ever left from Orlando to Tampa earlier than 9:30 am,so maybe earlier than that you might get more traffic, locals who drive it more often could tell you. With normal traffic it shouldn't take more than 1 hour and 15 minutes.I-4 to I-75 north exit at exit 265(Fowler ave) going west and you'll see the signs to turn left right around USF.

Thank you! It looks like we're back to a Wed trip again, so glad to hear the traffic isn't usually too horrible.

I recommend BG during the week. It seems to pull a lot of locals, so it gets busier on the weekends.
