Help:)was hoping somebody would have experience driving to Crystal River/Homossa from WDW. We were planning to leave approx 7 am on a weekday for
'safe' arrival @ 9:30 am ish

Mapquest gives option of the following:

A) I-4 to Turnpike to 44

B) 27 to either Turnpike (exit 289), then 44

or

C) 27 to 44 (in attempt to avoid highway)

no highway is a plus imo;)after being stuck in traffic on I-4 that time frame in the past. Turnpike always looks busy when we pass over it too.:confused3 Travel difference time listed as 15 minutes for option B) & 25 for option C)

Wondering if 27 is akin to International Drive as to traffic congestion though:confused:, is that where the large condo communities are located?

Even if there is not much traffic, you will still spend lots of time waiting at lights. Most big intersections these days have four way lights which typically mean waits of more than a minute, often around two minutes.

def, that's why i was wondering if it was built up like international drive or just a few lights/rural area:confused3

We often make this trip as my parents live in Homosassa and we visit them before and after going to Disney. From Disney, we typically take 192 to 27 to 50 West in Clermont. We then take 50 West to Brooksville and then take 98 North to 19 North.

It is not highway and although there are traffic lights in some areas there are long stretches with no lights. It is a relatively easy ride that generally takes us about 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Check out this route before you make your decision.

Hope this helps

Steve
