Traffic on July 5th?

I really want to start driving back from FL to NY on 7/5, but will wait and start 7/6 if the post-Independence Day traffic will snarl up I-95. I'll also drive another route if that will help. Has anyone driven the interstates the day after the fourth? Many thanks for any feedback!

We have driven back on the 5th and the only place that was horrible was DC area. I think because of it falling on a Monday(i think) that it will end up being the big travel day - no day off the next day for most people I would guess. I am dreading driving down on the 2nd but we decided to leave late on the 1st and then get an early start on the 2nd from NC I hope. Good luck to you.
