We are going to US/IOA on the day after Thanksgiving - we plan to be there about an hour prior to opening. Is there any main roads or back roads that should be avoided due to Black Friday shoppers etc. Or is it the same as any ordinary morning commute. I know back home in MA there are some malls/outlets that back up the entire highway with shoppers trying to get off the exits.

I-4 will be busy as always since a lot of people have Friday off. I think all roads in the tourist corridor from Universal to WDW will be busy. I wouldn't go anywhere near I Drive that whole weekend! Just try to make the best of it.

Avoid: International Drive, Sand Lake Road, 192.

Use I4 with caution; many people will be clogging up that road trying to get to the malls. If you use I4, stay LEFT. Exit 75 (Kirkman/Universal) is on the left and all the above named streets exit on the RIGHT side of I4.

Using 535 to Palm Parkway/Turkey Lake Road may be your safest bet.

Yeah, 'cause nobody is going to be going to WalMart on Turkey Lake that day.

It will likely be most crowded on I4 near exit 68, the exit for Premium Outlets and then again at the exit for Kirkman. If you can be in the left lane by the time you get to the Premium Outlet exit, you might hit no more than a 5 minute delay at that point and then have smooth sailing the rest of the way.

:headache: I forgot about that little menace. :headache:

I try to ignore it too. Unfortunately, I've seen too many tourons carelessly pulling out from that menace's parking lot and nearly causing crashes. It probably won't be too terrible at the time the OP is going to be driving though.
