Traffic @ 6AM Irvine to Disneyland, I-5, what am I in for?

I am a Disneyland veteran and have driven from Irvine to the parks before but it's always been a casual trip. We are doing APEE on Thirsday August 2nd to rush to Carsland special for our daughters birthday. So several questions: 1.) How bad of traffic will there be on the 5 that way at 6am? 2.) How early is it suggested that we get there to get in line for entry?

I know we can check in at 6:30am so I was hoping to be there at that time (hence the question for traffic at 6am). If we are later than 6:30am for check in is it really going to be bad? What if we get there closer to 6:50?

Hoping we can leave Irvine at 6:00am-6:15am and be OK to get into CA Adventure Park by 7:00am entry, any thoughts/suggestions are much appreciated. My family are no early morning people so the later we can leave and still be there by 7 the better.

You are not in for anything. There is no traffic at 6am. Many people in SoCal don't even start work until 10, as many offices run 10-6, not 9-5, especially in the entertainment and consumer product industries.

Can I work where you work?

Most people in So. Cal that I know with traditional office jobs start working between 8-9am. If you drive through Irvine (non-summer) anytime after 7am and before 8:30am, traffic is awful.

Just sharing this for any other who might be looking for traffic info. DlandAmanda, you will be fine at that early hour.

I'm a little bit farther south on the 5 at Lake Forest, and anytime I go for opening, there is no traffic that will slow you down at all and this is at 7, so you should be fine.

It is Los Angeles. There is ALWAYS traffic! Once I was on the road at 5:30 AM on a SATURDAY! Traffic. Noon on a Sunday - traffic!

Allow extra time. Wouldn't you rather be early than late?
