Trading Spaces fans -- let's post

This is the only type of reality show I watch. I even like watching the re-runs.
Which designer would you want? First, Vern. Then Frank. Although they are all good.
Ty is great, and funny. But I like Amy's (Wynn - sp?) style better.
What shows are the most memorable to you?
And what project has been done that you wish you could have?

I saw last weekend what I think was a re-run. It was celebrity TS and Andy Dick's second kitchen was one of the makeovers.
I think his last name goes very well with his personality.
And I felt sorry for his friend whose room he helped makeover. She seemed like such a nice person and worked so hard on Andy's kitchen. And she did not like her *garbage can* room makeover at all.

And I remember the bedroom that Frank redecorated with that giant face with the lips headboard! Yikes!

I would love to have that Feng Shui coffee table that Vern built with the single row of bamboo plants in the center. Great mirrors overhead too.

I adore Vern's style! He could design a room in my house any time. Next I would pick Doug. Sometimes his style is a little off but he's so cute and most of the time I like his stuff.

If Genevieve or Hildy ever came near my home I'd call the police!

Yeah - I felt sorry for Sara Rue - she worked so hard on Andy Dick's "downstairs kitchen" & then her room so under-whelmed her (which is doubly sad because Jen's rooms are usually better than that one!) Both of their homes looked like the old California-Spanish mission, red-tile roof type - the kind I grew up in - a lot you can do with those rooms!
Doug's kitchen cabinets turned out great last night! I never would have guessed that I would like the results when I first saw all the colored paint he started with! Ty put a huge amount of work into those!
I really didn't like Frank's room last night - too odd! (& I'm usually a Frank fan!)

I would most want Laurie or Vern to design my room. (if it was Hilde, I'd probably cry - I think she does things just to do them; kind of "watch what I can do -- I am a designer and you can't stop me!"). I'd most like to work with Geneveive or Frank. (if it was Doug, I'd probably cry - he can be so mean to the people he works with - though he does seem to be improving!)

As for designers -- I think Amy Wynn seems like a lot of fun and would love to work with her. Ty is a cutie but he and Vern often seem to have some tension.

Love that show! And my most memorable shows:
the one Doug designed where the lady cried hysterically (I didn't think it was bad at all!)
the one where Hilde painted the sofas and then they got rained on!
the one where Hilde put hay on the wall -- give me a break!

I Love Vern and I like Frank, I would take either of them, but if Doug came anywhere near my house, I'd scream! Also,Page is getting on my nerves a little bit lately.

I think both Amy and Ty are amazing at carpentry!

I love Vern, too! He has a classic style that is so contempory and beautiful!

I would personally MURDER Genevieve or Hildy if they came anywhere NEAR my zip code! Obnoxious clucks with their taste in their mouths...

I like Edward, also. He has the way with fabric like another fave of mine, Christopher Lowell!

LOVE Ty and Amy Wynn!! Don't believe that they're doing all that carpentry by themselves in two days, though... Not even NORM and Tim the Tool Guy Taylor could do all that stuff that quickly!!

Vern and Frank for me! Last nights show was filmed not too far from where I live-Miramar! I LOVED the Kitchen, it came out beautifully! The bedroom with the RED walls NOT in my house! But I liked it in thiers!

I would love to have Vern redo a room in my house, I like Ty and Amy but I read on the Trading Spaces website that they will be introducing a new carpenter to help and possibly take the place of either Ty or Amy because both have been talking about wanting to also do other things.

They are bringing in a new carpenter but I think this is in addition too Amy Wynn & Ty. They are also adding designers since they are planning on even more episodes next season. I wonder if Paige will get some relief too that's a lot of travel for anyone.

Vern and then Frank...I loved last nights funky kitchen, do not think I would want it in my house, but really liked it. I would not want to have DH die of a heart attack, he loves everything modern balck and white...YUCK!!!

ME, glo!! I really don't like color and LOVE Black and White! I hated what they did to that black and white kitchen! YUCK!

I would pick Vern, Frank or Laurie to redo a room in my house. Definitely not Doug or Hildi. Some of Doug's designs are nice, he just seems so unwilling to listen to the homeowners sometimes. I also wouldn't want Kia- I don't think I've liked any of the rooms that she's done!

Vern is my favorite - he could do my whole house! I like Laurie's style too, but maybe only in one room. I love to watch Frank because he is so nice and seems so genuine.

I couldn't believe the lady that "didn't like brown" and how she reacted towards her neighbors that had worked on her room. "fighting" with the other lady and then walking out of the house - I think she should have left a little sooner if she was so disappointed she couldn't handle it.

I thought they all knew they could have "no say" in their rooms - it seems to me you sign on for that, but as the show has gone on, it seems like you get poeple who start the show with a luandry list of what they want/expect. It just seems a little contrary to the concept to me.

And would I trade spaces? nope - I know myself too well - I want to knwo what's being done to my house, and have veto power, so I wouldn't sign up for the show. But I love to watch it!

Hildie not if my life depended on it I would hate to work with her or have her do a room in my house!! Put Doug in that grou too, though I *did* like the kitchen last night most of the time I hate his rooms!


Anyone notice how ahem cozy Doug and Amy Wynn are? dh was noticing that last night lol.


Love this show its one of the few that dh and I make a point watch together every week.

I think Doug has mellowed a bit and I have liked his last few rooms. Usually I like Frank's, but I didn't care for his room at all last night! I would have to pick Vern to do my bedroom and Frank to do my kitchen. And Hildi can do my basement bathroom!

I watched it for the first time last night. I liked some things, but those designs(shapes) on the wall behind the bed in the bedroom I would of been speechless!

I think Doug is a real flirt. Although nothing like Ty!
I think Kia is a very nice gal. She seems like a beginner, has good intentions and REALLY tries. I think she just has to be a little more practical.
I had to laugh over an episode I just remembered --- Kia's Grave Bed! That was a hoot! I wasn't impressed with that room at all. I think I could have done just as well. Kia tried, but it just didn't quite come off.
I think Edward is very good too. Too under rated I think. And he seems very nice. Almost too nice. Ty treats him too badly I think. I would like to see more of Edward.

You have to remember it's television and not just design. Certain designers, really "play" a role. Doug seems to like the "role" of bad boy and often plays it to the hilt. Hildi has been cast as the "off beat" one and definitely goes for it. I have rarely liked her style and didn't think I liked her personality, but then read a little about her in the TS book (she's a Pluto fan??) and realize that what she does in front of the camera probably isn't the real her.

Kia is too theatrical for me (but then that's her background. She's done props and such for several films). She's over the top, but never seems to harm much (where as Hildi's designs seem impossible to remove, with Kia you can just remove a bedspread or a rug and it's not so bad).

Frank, Vern & Edward seem to be the ones who pay the most attnetion to what the homeowners want/need. Which is why I'd want them to do my house. They also seem to be real nice guys over all (although I wouldn't mind working with Doug -- hunka, hunka!).

Gen gets too "inspired" by something and doesn't take into account the homeowner (which I know she doesn't have to). Once she gets her head set on something, she's going with it (be it a cigar box or an artichoke).

And Laurie? Well, I'm just not sure...
