*~Trading Snow & Slush For Pixie Dust~* Jan PTR - 1/17 - Photo Challenge Complete!

Finally made it through your report... I think it's so funny that we were at Disney the same week in March & we're going the same week in November! Your dresses are amazing! That's what caught my attention when I bumped into you at Dinosaur - your daughter's adorable dress! Then I spotted the Colleen LGMH!

Looks like our plans overlap on a couple days. We'll be at DHS on the evening of the 10th, then at MK the morning of the 11th! And IF our waitlist comes through, we'll be at BCV the 8th - 13th. If not, well be neighbors at BWV! I'll keep my eyes open for you! Are you going to design a November Mickey Head?

You know what they say about great minds and all that. :goodvibes

I'll put together a Nov LGMH when it gets a bit closer, actually I'll probably do two because I'm thinking I want one with fall leaves and another with plates/wine glasses for Food & Wine. Right now the DIS Project Runway challenges are taking up a lot of my free time and creativity (and pushing me to get the girls' customs done WAY earlier than usual!), but that wraps up in a couple weeks and then I'll turn my attention to the techie-creations like a Mickey head and my plan/note cards and such.

You notice I didn't post a planned outfit for DHS? That's not because I don't have an idea... its because with the DISboutique challenges and a very good fabric sale at Joanns I have more ideas/outfits than I need so I'm not sure which will end up used for that day! :rotfl:

As we count down the last few days of summer we decided to pop over to the zoo on Thursday for one last outing before the older kids left for their Labor Day fun - both are camping this weekend, Stitch with his friend from Tennessee and Pocahontas with her BFF.

The weather didn't want to cooperate - instead of the nice, slightly cooler late-summer weather we'd been having we picked a day where summer returned with a vengeance. So we decided to go to the Detroit zoo rather than drive down to the good zoo in Toledo and make it a shorter day. Pochontas' BFF was tagging along and I know she doesn't do as well with the heat and walking as my crew, so it was just easier to stick a little closer to home.

Stitch was unusually cooperative with the camera for a change, so I actually got some pictures of him to share!

He is the world's sweetest big brother to Boo. The whole idea for this Disney trip came from how left out he felt when she came home chatting about our girls' only trip. He didn't want to go with us beforehand, but in hindsight he really regretted missing out on the time with her.

He's a little big for the prairie dog burrows, so Pocahontas took over baby-duty for that exhibit.

2225545810051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

And the whole crew, posing reluctantly before running off to find ice cream. Dole Whips would have been better... :rolleyes1

2053541840051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

Of course, I had to take a few shots of the animals too.

This one isn't the best shot but it was really hard to get one where you could see the baby chimp. It was the cutest little thing, just hanging on to its mom as she ate, ran around, and climbed the trees! I think the primate area is really one of the best exhibits our zoo has to offer.

2249812860051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

Boo loved these two... She decided that turtle wanted to be a pillow pet.

2358712980051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

And of course no trip to the zoo would be complete without playing around with my zoom lens in the butterfly house.

2121349850051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

It was a nice morning but we only stayed about 4 hours. The zoo is rather small, with some great new exhibits - including a really fun free-range sort of area for the kangaroos where they're free to hop right across the pedestrian paths... at least on days when it is cool enough for them to leave the shade! - but it is limited by a location that doesn't allow for expansion. They don't even have elephants any more! :sad2: Still, when it is 95° a shorter day works well, and I was glad we spent the extra 45min in the car to get to Toledo because by 2pm it was hot enough that we were ready to head home for a dip in the river.

And the outing gave me the perfect chance to test out my newest Project Runway creation - a custom camera bag that converts from stroller bag to messenger bag. It is the first thing I've ever sewed for myself and I love it - everything has a place and it is so easy to use that I can manage lens changes without even stopping!

Looks like you will all be busy, but having a lot of fun.
I just toured AS Music suites a few weeks ago. They are nice!

Just saw the zoo update. I love the camera bag...are you going to sell those? hint.. hint....:rolleyes1

It's funny because I think Detroit Zoo is really big compared to Toledo, probably because I'm not very familiar with it. I've been to the Toledo zoo about 4 times this summer. The new baby elephant is so cute

I am toying with the idea of making another camera bag to list on Etsy just to see how it does. The first one was a very time consuming project but I'd like to see how a second goes now that working with the foam isn't new to me. You can't really tell from the pics but all the sides are padded, and the foam I used is vinyl-backed so it is fairly waterproof. I need to figure out the materials cost first, though... The foam and red canvas were both from my grandmother's fabric stash that I've inherited so they didn't cost me anything, and I have no idea how feasible making them to sell would be without knowing what the materials cost to now (somehow I don't expect it to be anything close to the 79¢/yard that was on the price tag of that piece!)

I don't think the Detroit Zoo is nearly as big as Toledo's, but part of the difference is also in how the land is used. Our zoo has that huge fountain, two big wetlands/ponds for local wildlife, and all sorts of landscaping, butterfly gardens, etc. It is a very conservation-oriented zoo and sometimes that gets in the way of certain crowd favorites, like the elephants that they chose not to replace when the pair they had "retired" to a sanctuary in a warmer part of the country. They have made some great improvements over recent years - the polar bear exhibit is really nice, and the kangaroo area is very cool - but between the 'wasted' space and the old-school habitats that are left for many of the larger animals it just isn't that great an experience overall.

We've already decided we're going to make sure we get to Toledo one weekend this month, because I really want to see the baby elephant before the weather starts to turn cold. With football season starting on Saturday I'm not sure exactly when we'll find the time, but it isn't that bad a drive so I'm sure we'll manage to squeeze it in!

Looks like a fun day at the zoo! I'm eager to take DS to the New Orleans zoo, but we are definitely waiting until the weather cools off. Maybe for his birthday in October it will be a more tolerable temperature outside!

That bag is gorgeous!!!

Day four is another busy one so we're going to get an easy start with no particular time in mind to head out. I don't figure it'll be terribly late because Studios won't be a very late night, but we're not shooting for rope drop either.

2604321310051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

Animal Kingdom is the only park that is only getting one day this trip, so we're going in with the expectation of hitting a few highlights but not fitting everything in.

We'll start the day in Dinoland, though I'll be running for Everest fastpasses as soon as we arrive.

2630983470051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

DM will take Boo to Triceratops Spin while DH & I take the big kids on Dinosaur.

2794586500051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

One go-round on Dinosaur is usually enough but I expect Boo will want more than one ride on the prehistoric Dumbo clone!

2207097740051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

If the line isn't too long we'll stop to see Goofy and Pluto while we're in the area.

2884468250051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

With Dinoland done, we'll head off through Asia. Again I'll be the one running, this time back to Africa for safari fastpasses before we hit our Asian must-dos.

2950827760051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

Unless it is unusually cold Kali River will be up next. Both the big kids love it and Boo will be just on the edge of tall enough so they want to see if she makes the cut. If she doesn't I might sit it out so my mom can ride, because the kids would like DM to try it and it is mild enough that I do think she'd like it.

2042327400051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

Next up will be to use our Everest FPs.

2852014660051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

I discovered a new favorite thing about Everest on our last trip - taking pictures while on the ride.

2657804590051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

If we still have a little time to kill we'll check out the animals of the Maharajah Jungle Trek.

2742846460051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

Otherwise, we'll head straight for our late lunch at Yak & Yeti. I originally booked Yak & Yeti because it was the only thing coming up for lunch, then switched to Tusker House when the lunch bookings finally opened up, then switched back to Yak & Yeti when I realized that the Nemo seating wasn't at a good time for the rest of our plans.

Besides, I don't like buffets enough to have two in one day. :snooty:

We've been to Yak & Yeti once before and enjoyed it even though a couple of items were less than stellar, so I'm looking forward to a repeat and an opportunity to choose my meal a little differently.

After lunch we'll head over to use our safari fastpasses. We skipped this on the last trip because we had so little time at Animal Kingdom before leaving to catch a 1pm spring training game at Wide World of Sports, so we're all looking forward to riding it again this time.

After the safari we have to stop in at Kusafiri Bakery for one of my must-try snacks of the trip, the white chocolate elephant cupcake (photo from DisneyFoodBlog.com)

whitechocolatecupcake.jpg

Then it will be time to head back to the front of the park. If we have time we'll stop for a visit with the Bugs in the big tree. Boo has discovered A Bug's Life since our last visit so I think she'd enjoy this movie, but it isn't a must see.

2973973890051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

To wrap up our park day, we plan to catch the last showing of Festival of the Lion King. Somehow we've never seen this and everyone in the family rated it higher than Nemo, which we also have never seen, on the priorities list for this trip.

But just because the park is closing doesn't mean our day is over!

Instead of hopping a bus back to ASMu, we'll be looking for the Fort Wilderness stop to have a nice little campfire with a couple of friendly rodents. Boo wanted to take Dale home with her last trip, so this jumped out at me as something we just HAD to fit in on this trip!

The campfire starts at 6:30 in the fall and Chip & Dale make their appearance for the sing-a-long at 7 so we should be getting there just in time. And as an added bonus this will give us a chance to look around the campground because I am still determined to stay there soon!

But the fun doesn't end there!

After the campfire there is an outdoor movie, but we're not going to stick around for that. The sing-a-long should wrap up just before 8 and we have a 9pm dinner reservation at the Contemporary to get to, because nothing says Disney like dinner with a mouse!

Since it is a MVMCP night we'll just walk over to the Magic Kingdom to catch a bus back to ASMu when we're finally ready to call it a night.

Wow...you've never seen Festival of the Lion King? One of my top 5 attractions at all of Walt Disney World! Right there below Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, Haunted Mansion and just above Expedition Everest! Please, don't miss that one.

Agree with Pete, FOTLK is an amazing not to be missed show!! DH and I enjoyed Nemo when we saw it, but don't feel the need to see it for a few more trips. FOTLK is a must do for every trip! LK is my second favorite Disney movie soundtrack (after The Little Mermaid!), so I love the show both for the music and for the acts. Your family will surely love it too!

Two animal themed updates in a row! :thumbsup2 The zoo looks like it was fun, but your day at AK looks like even more fun. :goodvibes I've been eyeing those cupcakes, but I want to try the zebra one.

We too LOVE FOTLK!! ::yes:: Definitely my favorite show at Disney World!

I don't know how we always miss it. I took the older kids to the touring production of the Broadway show a few years back and we all enjoyed it, but somehow we never make it over to Camp Minnie-Mickey for the show at AK. Actually, in a half dozen days at Animal Kingdom we've only gone into Camp Minnie-Mickey once... My kids can (and did) happily spend an entire day just checking out the animal trails so even in '08 when we had two full days at AK we spent it all in Asia & Africa. :confused3 But I try to fit in one or two things we've never done before into each of our park days, so FOTLK will be that thing for AK on this trip.

The paw print brownie looks the best to me so we might try more than one goodie. We usually only get one giant cupcake to share since none of us are really big on sweets, and the elephant was the kids' unanimous choice.

With the new school year started, I'm officially concentrating on finalizing our Disney plans, finding airfare, and getting everything settled. The kids' first day back was Tues and Stitch's first football practice was the same night, so things are oddly quiet around the house. I'm not quite used to it yet, it is almost eerie and I don't know what to do with myself. :listen: :bored: I guess this is why I do "fall cleaning" and decluttering instead of in the spring or after New Years.

They had a nice first day. Stitch stole my Kid Rock jersey for his back to school outfit. Teenagers are so funny - I'm the lamest thing in the world when I'm being the heavy about homework or bedtime, but he sure is proud of having a "cool" mom who went to a Kid Rock concert *and* gave him the exclusive, limited edition, only available with the VIP tickets concert jersey. :lmao:

Now, back to the Disney planning!

Somehow I've even managed to make a late night out of an Animal Kingdom day, so once again we'll be getting a slow start in the morning at whatever time it happens to be when we wake up. I don't expect it will be very late, though, and I would like to be in the park by 10:30 to get an early start on the World Showcase fun.

2908654600051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

The plans for our second day at Epcot are pretty loose. Our first day was all about Future World; this day is all about the World Showcase. If there is anything in Future World we missed or want to repeat we'll start there, but food is the main order of the day.

I plan on starting in Mexico and sharing snacks from the Food & Wine booths as we go. We'll work in a Kim Possible mission or two as we go, because Stitch has never done one and I know he'll like the quirky little interactive things that go along with the missions.

2587756020051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

After her first trip, Boo absolutely fell in love with Donald so El Rio de Tiempo (I know, I know... it has a new name now but I forget what it is) is a must-do. I don't expect any real lines here because there so seldom are, and multiple rides are a possibility.

And while we're in the pyramid, a stop for a passion fruit margarita is on MY must-do list. I love all things passion fruit but somehow missed La Cava on our last trip. :confused3

2252915420051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

Next up is Norway, not our favorite so we won't spend much time. I plan on focusing on the festival booths during the day, since in recent years they haven't been open for the evening EMH. If we want to come back to some of the attractions, like Maelstrom, and grab a few to-go snacks from Kringala bakery we can do that after the festival closes and the crowds thin.

2808330230051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

In China we'll probably stop to see if we can find Mulan, because Pocahontas is a big fan. The movie isn't a must-do so we won't stay long, though if the timing works out I would like to see whatever entertainment offering Disney has scheduled now just to see how it compares to the old acrobats.

In fact, we don't spend much time in any of the next few countries on the path.

2277196740051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

When ever time dictates, we'll jump ahead to my personal favorite of the World Showcase countries - Japan. We have a 12:40 lunch reservation for Teppan Edo at Stitch's request, and I expect the kids will be hungry and ready to sit down for a bit even if we adults aren't.

In addition to lunch, I want to take Stitch to see the anime exhibit in the gallery in Japan, and we'll blow a good chunk of our souvenir budget at Mitsukoshi as usual.

After lunch, we'll pick up where we left off.

Our time in Germany will be spent mainly on getting some take-out treats from Karamel Kuche and exploring the shops a bit. One of my favorite things about traveling with a stroller is room to keep goodies that we want to take back to the room.

The Poland booth is in this area and I know we'll be trying the offerings despite mixed reviews and knowing that no mass-produced Polish food can live up to my grandmother's or FIL's home cooking.

I doubt we'll really stop in Italy at all because we'll be back here later. My favorite way to end a day at Epcot is with a glass of Rosa Regale and Illuminations. :drinking1

We'll continue snacking our way around for the afternoon.

2923678400051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

Another country that usually commands a fair bit of time just for exploring is Morocco. Pocahontas will want to get a henna tattoo, and of course there are characters to see. But mostly I just love the pavilion's architecture and attention to detail.

2119651370051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

France is all about the characters this time. We saw Impressions de France on our last trip and that's just not something I make time for every trip. Hopefully we'll be here during Marie's afternoon set because the girls adore her, and of course we'll have to stop to see Belle and the Beast because Beauty & the Beast is my favorite of all the princess movies.

2342413350051332420S500x500Q85.jpg

Britain and Canada will both be rather time consuming simply for the musical entertainment. Seeing the band that replaced the British Invasion is a must, and I love Off Kilter.

Dinner is at Rose & Crown, so we should be in the right neighborhood when dinner time rolls around. Stitch is going to love this one, because he's a huge fan of the Scotch egg and has no idea you can find them anywhere other than the Renaissance Festival. I didn't get a late enough ADR to watch Illuminations because I'd like to be at the back of the park for the show, with a glass of Rosa Regale in hand, poised to head for The American Adventure to avoid the post-fireworks exodus.

Since in recent years the festival booths have not stayed open into evening EMH but the World Showcase attractions and many restaurants are, we plan to hit a few things there during the earlier, more crowded part of the extra hours. So we'll see The American Adventure, maybe grab a take-out treat from Boulangerie Patisserie for the next morning's breakfast, and enjoy the nighttime atmosphere with a ride or two here and there. Test Track, which is our Epcot highlight (Soarin' is fun but once is enough for us), will wait for the very end of the night when the early birds have had time to throw in the towel.

The park closes at midnight and I figure we'll stay right to the end, so once again we'll be getting back to our room in the wee hours of the morning.

Just joining in. Great PTR so far!

:welcome:

I just wanted to pop in and let y'all know I haven't forgotten about my PTR! The kids are back to school, which means 4 nights a week at various sport practices and homework and all the rest, plus my 13yo's not-girlfriend (who he hangs out with every day ) broke her leg in a scary bike accident so I spent a couple of afternoons driving him up to hang out with her in the hospital. And it is harvest season - I've got paying orders for a dozen jars of salsa and usually make two dozen or so to keep or give as gifts, so this week is salsa week. I already have 5 dozen ears of sweet corn, safely frozen in meal-sized batches, tucked away in the basement freezer, and I've got a farmer bringing a bushel of green beans to Saturday's market for me so I can spend the weekend blanching and freezing those.

Work has been nuts for DH and there might be more changes in the works because of it. Changes I'm not too happy about, by the way, which is probably another reason I've let the trip planning shift to the back burner again... Let's just say if you hear on the news about a crazed Michigan woman throttling her husband to death over a Disney trip, that would be me! :headache:  I can't honestly be mad at him because none of it is really under his control and he has to take the opportunities when they arise, but there are moments when I miss the days where he had a job where he gave notice of his vacation plans, got it approved, and knew someone else would be covering for him at those times.

Ooooh...sorry to hear your trip plans might be changing...that's always tough when it's a trip like this that takes so much advance work.

Good luck and let us know what happens..

Well I've been sulking a bit and not embracing uncertainty with my usual good humor (and a change-of-weather cold is NOT helping matters any), so I've been slow on the updates...

But here goes, the whole long story in a nutshell.

There's this neighbor/friend J. who is a general contractor that DH has done some work for. Nothing major really, but picking up a few days here and a week or two there when he's between bigger projects. Most of the work is in areas that he doesn't usually do a lot of, namely *indoor* work instead of roofing/siding, so it continues through the winter.

Well, J. called Ken last week to chat... It seems his "right hand guy" interviewed last week for another job. There's no hard feelings about any of this and if the other guy doesn't get the job he interviewed for (which offers benefits that J. as a very small company can't match) he'll continue on where he is... but if he does move on J. wants DH to replace him, at least through the winter. We'll have to see how it works out come spring, but for the winter it is a good fit. DH is wrapping up what will likely be his last big project of the season next week so he'll have the time and it would save J from having to find someone he can trust on short notice when he's booked solid through Christmas.

But there's the catch... J is booked solid with interior renovation projects that customers want done by the holidays. If Ken takes this opportunity he won't be able to get away in Nov. :headache: The current foreman has a second interview later this week and we're just in a holding pattern waiting to see if he's offered the other job. DH has been feeling me out about postponing the trip since this whole situation came up (and I think DH knew the other guy was looking for something else before J. did), so I know he'll jump at the opportunity for some steady winter work if he gets the chance.

So we're paid in full, still holding off on airfare, and I'm having flashbacks to my birthday-turned-Christmas trip which started out planned for Ft Wilderness in May '09 for my 30th b-day, then shifted to CSR/Sept '09, then to Poly/Jan '10, and finally ended up as CBR/Dec '09. I suppose in comparison I've hardly made any changes to this trip at all!

The back-up plan, should we need it, is January. As much as I want to get back to FL in warmer weather traveling in Jan usually works out well schedule-wise. The kids have a short week at the end of the semester that doesn't correspond to any crowd- or price-increasing occasions at WDW, business is usually dead, and it is a nice time to get the heck out of Michigan.

The big cons to January are the weather and the rehabs. Splash has been closed the whole month for the last two years, and though nothing has been announced yet for this coming Jan I anticipate it will be the same. Plus Fantasmic! is not scheduled for most of Jan and part of Feb, reportedly for a major rehab. Splash is a bigger deal to me than F! but both will disappoint Stitch, as will the fact that we wouldn't do the Beach Club night in January because of the chance that we wouldn't have swimming weather to enjoy it.

The big pro to Jan is that we'd be there during an open enrollment period for Disney's educational classes. Pocahontas is interested in a speaker that is scheduled that week - the author of the Kingdom Keepers books - and a class at Animal Kingdom, and Stitch would like to check out a technology class that is offered at Epcot. We'd also have the opportunity to do the Kingdom Keepers Quest scavenger hunt in the Magic Kingdom, which is new and usually limited to organized groups but included in the "literacy week" homeschool/individual enrollment package.

Another pro is that my brother would be much more likely to be able to join us in Jan. The kids would really like having him along, and he's been wanting to come along on one of our trips for a while. And since that's the week after his and Stitch's birthdays I'd have an excuse to get a cake, which is always good. We've had two Disney birthdays in the past and I just love their cakes. :cloud9:

I was surprised but when I put it to the kids they're both neutral on the change. Both are bummed that Jan would mean no Beach Club and no Food & Wine/Christmas lights, but both like the idea of the YES classes enough to make up for that. Stitch, who can usually be counted on to think with his stomach, liked the idea of another birthday cake (and wants it at Cali Grill this time instead of Kona :confused3) and asked if we'd do another behind-the-scenes tour (we did Magic Behind our Steam Trains at the MK for his 10th birthday). Pocahontas is a big Kingdom Keepers fan and kind of prefers the January idea for that alone.

Cost wise it is a wash - we'd spend 8 nights in two moderate rooms rather than 7 in a value suite and 1 at a deluxe, and we'd have an extra night of the dining plan. Instead of me upgrading to an AP, we'd have 4 two-day tickets from our package to save for future trips since DH & the big kids & I will be getting discounted tickets through the educational program. And since those tix don't have to be the same for everyone and the upgrades are much cheaper than for the general public DH & the kids will get 'premium' tickets so they can hit Disney Quest one evening while DM & I shop with Boo (who dislikes loud places too much to enjoy DQ).

I think I'd be fine with the changes, even excited about the new plan if it was actually a plan. After all, we've been to Disney during Food & Wine and during the holiday season but we've never had a trip line up to take advantage of Disney's youth classes. But I am just NOT good at "wait and see", not even a little bit!

Oh wow...having that 'up in the air' feeling is always tough. I guess the way to look at it is the trip isn't being canceled, just possibily changed. In the end, real world has to trump Disney World, right? Doesn't sound like the kids are too upset...and I admit doing the YES program sounds really awesome. (I just discovered it recently myself.) You are right that probably no Splash Mountain (it's been down every January for like 5 years at least.) but gaurantee no SM or F! is not a vacation breaker. Seems like lots of plusses to the new dates.

My advice. Plan like the new dates are going to happen and get those ADRs goin'!

That does stink having to postpone a trip when you are sooooo looking forward to it.:sad2: But at least it wouldn't be cancelled.

We were there in January this year and loved it. Yes the weather was cooler and we couldn't swim every day and SM was closed, but other than that it was great.:thumbsup2 Quite frankly it was a refreshing change from our more recent trips to not be sweating to death by the time I walked to the bus stop in the morning.:faint: We did get 2 swimming days in, the first being a little cool, but the second was 80 and perfect.:cloud9:

Be thankful that DH is able to find work in this horrible economy and that you can afford to go to WDW, even though it's not when you originally planned.:goodvibes

That's exactly what I'm doing. :goodvibes It is a miserable rainy day so Boo isn't tugging me away from the computer to go play outside, and I'm going to throw together a rough itinerary and ADRs for January just in case.

The more I look at the options the more I like the idea - the kids aren't upset about the change, and while the weather on our January trip wasn't the best we've ever had the crowds were the lowest we've ever seen. That's not a bad tradeoff when I stop to think about it. And my older kids are kind of nuts - they did swim on our January trip, even on cooler nights when the lifeguards were in parkas and gloves, while I enjoyed the hot tub.

Amen to that.

When we took our first family trip in 2005 it was paid for with a small inheritance from a Disney loving relative. At that point in our lives we thought we wouldn't be able to afford to take the kids on our own for many years, at least until the kids are all in school and I'm working more. We've been really blessed that years that have been so bad for so many people have been good to us in some big ways. Our trips might end up moving around a bit, plans change, things get delayed, but it has always been because of good things happening in our lives, not job loss or illness or other hard times. So while I might pout a bit about having to change plans I've put a lot of time into, I get over myself pretty quick because I do know just how lucky we are.

Hopefully you can get everything sorted out!! It stinks when real life gets in the way of a Disney vacation, but sometimes those are the breaks, I guess. At least if you do have to postpone, it is for a time that still works out well for your family. I had heard of the YES programs from seeing that name pop up on the boards, but had no idea what it was until I listened to Teresa talk about doing them with her girls on the podcast. They sounds so interesting! So at least you would have those to look forward to with the two oldest if you go in January.

Gotta say, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, but I too would be very upset at having to miss out on Splash. That might be what I'm looking forward to the most on our trip since I was pregnant last time and couldn't ride! Also one year we went and RnRC was down, and scheduled to open the day we left Orlando! That was a HUGE bummer!!
