Trading RCI for DVC use?

My uncle said that I could use some of his banked RCI time for our next trip if I would pay the fees. Does one week in RCI trade for a week at Dvc? He will have 2 weeks available so I could buy both if needed. If not i will start researching RCI properties in the area.

This might be better asked in a RCI based forum, or perhaps TUG. There may be DVC owners that also own RCI, who could comment, however, DVC only tells us what it costs to trade DVC to RCI not vice versa. Based on general time-share principles, I think it would also depend on the value of the RCI points or unit being banked, from what I understand, all are not equal. I do know that the DVC resorts are all in the RCI RED category 52 weeks a year. You could possibly find out what you are looking for using the online RCI resort directory on their website.

I hear you need enough Trading Power Units in order to trade into DVC, and I believe DVC blocks all inbound trades from Orlando area resorts.

The answer depends on your uncles TPU. You may have to combine the TPU from both weeks to land a DVC trade

Here is more specific info: (TPU needed is not permanently set in stone and can change)

I second the recommendation to join TUG (www.tugbbs.com) or Timeshare Forums (www.timeshareforums.com) Those folks will be able to help.

Thanks everyone for the info! I joined the Tugs board. I'm not sure there is enough trading power for a dvc but we may be able to combine or I have heard good things about Bonnet Creek and it looks like I can trade for that. Thanks so much for the help!

I'd do Bonnet Creek if what you need is available. You'll likely need a TPU of 27 to 31 or more for a 1 BR, more for a 2 BR. Depending on when you want to go, you may or may not have DVC options with an ongoing search even if you have the TPU power to do so. There are also other great RCI options in the area. Tops in my book would be BC, Hilton's, Marriott's Cypress Harbour, The Fountains (inc Oasis Lakes) and Vistana Villages (changed to II mostly though I think); there are other good choices that I'd put below those. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Bonnet is lovely, but as Dean mentions, the trading power required has gone up significantly for the past few deposits.

One week he owns is 20 Tpu. He said he has another 2 and five that were leftovers he could attach as well to it. His other unit is worth 10 TPU. He made it sound like he could get around 80 if he used all the power he could (maybe borrowing? Not sure if it works like DVC which I'm more familiar with since we have looked into buying DVC before.) Would we have a chance at the bonnet Creek or any of the Hilton's for 27? (We are not sure if we will need a 2 bedroom, depends if the in laws come).

Although I would love DVC I'm wondering if Bonnet Creek might be a better fit (or maybe even too high) for 27.

What is an average Tpu for BC? Dvc?

If we could get Dvc I wouldn't be picky SSR or OKW would be fine with us, but BCV,BWV BLT or AK would be preferable.

In the link I posted:

"Or - can anyone tell me from experience how much trading power I'll need to trade into a 1BR at Animal Kingdom, Beach Club, Saratoga Springs, Bay Lake Tower, or Boardwalk Villas for week 8 of 2013? For January it was between 38 and 42."
And there's talk of a low of 32 and a high of 54 (but that high was NYE in a 2BR?)
