Trading Pins

My family is going to WDW this month. I have been reading about pin trading but am at a loss as to how to get started. My boys are 11,11,12 and like trading cards and stuff. Are there any places in the parks where they can get a starter kit or do the just get a bunch and trade from that base. Also, i have an early figment pin. is this a good pin. Also, do you trade other pins, (universal, state pins or looneytoons)

There are many ways to start. Since you are going this month, I would just buy what you see in the parks and the resorts and start trading. CM's are very easy to trade with. Great for beginners.
WDW was selling starter sets for $25. It was a black lanyard with two each of Minnie and Mickey trading pins. (One set to keep and one to trade.) I think they are still for sale, but can't say for certain.
Even the resorts have pin carts. Stores sell pins too. Your park maps will have a legend showing where the pin carts are within the parks.
You may want to do a search on Ebay or Yahoo Auctions to see if you can find your Figment pin. That would give you a ballpark of it's worth.

Some here do have other pins. DH has some HRC pins. I even have extra Tijuana and Hollywood HRC to trade, if you are ever interested.

What does the Figment pin look like? By "early" I'm guessing that you are talking 1980s, so this is a FANTASTIC trader pin. I'm surprised you are willing to trade it. Unless you have two, I would suggest you keep it rather than trade it. However, if you still feel the need to get rid of it, PLMK. I'd love to trade you for it.
