We're going to Disney pretty last minute so I'm doing as much research as possible in my limited time. I came across pin trading. Sounds fun. But then I see fake, scrappers, Authentic etc.
I saw a tip to buy a lot on ebay. With 5 children to buy pins for that sounds like a winner to me.

Well now I'm not sure what to do. I had planned to buy this lot but the seller in on the Bad list. So now I don't even know.
For small kids (2, 3 and 9) Does it really matter? I was just thinking it was a novelty thing to do while there but now I realize it's pretty serious.

Do I just buy a lot and let the kids do whatever? Realistically the toddlers don't care at all.

In the end, it really depends on what side of the scrapper/fake issue you are on...cheap lots on eBay (less then a few dollars a pin) are going to be entirely fakes/scrappers. In the end, if you're kids are just going to trade for ones they like, then they're probably going to end up with some fakes/scrappers as well. For me, I don't trade to make money or create some type of investment; I trade for pins I like. That being said, I decided to stop adding to the scrapper/fake supply in the parks and (more to the point) giving money to someone who is selling something that is a fake/scrapper and trying to pass it off as the original. It was a personal decision and it's something you have to decide for yourself.

I'm not sure by what you mean by frowns of this? Obviously you can only trade a pin for a pin. My 9 and 3 year old aren't collectors or trying to score some rare pin. For young children I would think it's just for the thrill of interacting with the characters. BUT I also don't want to spend money on a bunch of fake pins that they can't trade.

You asked about trading pins for young children. They only allow you to trade pins for pins, not pins for young children.
