Hi All! We are trying to trade into BWV through Interval International in January and have yet to get a room. We are looking to get a 2BR. Does anyone have history as a DVC member depositing their week into Interval?

I thought depositing our week during high season in Curacao 12 months in advance for an off season Disney room would have come through by now, but no such luck. Should I start to panick and go to plan B? :surfweb:

Two bedrooms are hard to come by. You'd have the best chance for a studio. Then next maybe a one bedroom. And probably better odds at Old Key West or Saratoga. Also, the resort you're trying to trade in with has to be rated fairly high quality to be able to trade into DVC.

If you absolutely must have a two bedroom, I'd also consider Marriott's Cypress Harbour, Marriott's Grande Vista (ask for renovated or new unit), or Marriott Horizons as a nice alternative to DVC. I've also heard good things about Cypress Pointe and Sheraton Vistana Villages (Vistana Villages is supposed to be trading through Interval as of 2007).

Good luck.

not alot of people would trade a 2-bedroom (too many points) vs a 1-bedroom or studio.

you might get lucky - but you still need to wait - if you haven't anything in Dec - then go with another alternative.

of course the Marriott would be gone - if not already gone.

Unfortunately, I think you are right. I spoke to Interval and they said there were only 9 2BR trades for all of Jan05. At this point, we will take a 1 BR. We are also looking into the Marriot's as a backup. Interval is really pushing them on us. I am not sure if I should hold out for the 60 day deadline or just cave in now.

Is their a cutoff for DVC members or can you submit the trades closer to the 60 day mark?

DVC members have no control over what weeks are deposited with II, unlike other II resorts where you select your week then deposit. All II inventory is deposited from DVC directly, so it is hard to say if it will become available. I would go with one of the MVC resorts to be safe.

I think a 2 BR at BWV is unlikely but not totally impossible. If you want a 2 BR, open up to all DVC units. OKW and SSR are more likely to come through in this situation. My experience suggests that 2 BR units are not that uncommon for Jan & Sept but again, mostly at OKW & SSR. The Marriott's are good back ups but can likely be had 30-60 days out as well so you might want to wait a while before accepting off property.

I've booked exchanges into BWV (January arrivals) for the past several years. I start watching in April and have always had a 1BR (3 times) or Studio (once) booked by late April/mid May. This year has been rather strange -- and I've been spotting a trend towards "late, late deposits" from DVC.

I rarely see 2BR units - and never at BWV. However -- there was a 2BR at OKW for 2/3/07 check-in sitting out there this morning. Care to change your plans just a bit?

Thanks bwvBound, that is great info. How do you get to see what is out there?

Normally I would trade for that date, but I am running in the marathon on Jan 7th so my week is set.

In that case, you are probably out of luck for anything on site DVC, since all resorts have been reported in booked out status for some time now. You might try to do a direct exchange with someone. Maybe even look on the rent trade board here on the DIS and see if anyone is willing to negotiate an already booked ressie in exchange. Of course, if you have already deposited your trade in II, that wouldn't work.

I search online via II's website.

Understood -- my dates are also set (annual IBM conference at the Dolphin/Swan/Yacht Club). Best wishes on your training!

Marathon week availability is probably going to make it even harder to get. I'd definitely have a backup plan. Maybe you could reserve a Marriott week through a II exchange and pick up a few on-site nights (if they are even available anywhere at this date) for a few nights. Just another idea to kick around.

Marriotts Cypress Harbour reminds us a lot of Disney's Old Key West - lush landscaping and beautiful grounds.

Thanks littlestar. Training is going well and we were really excited at the possibility of staying onsite considering I need to be at Epcot around 4am race day. Now that it looks like we are staying offsite, we might take up your suggestion and stay onsite for the weekend and transfer to an offsite hotel. Thanks for the Marriot Cypress tip, we are totally unknowledgable about the hotels offsite, so our research begins...

I would have to agree with the other posts that your chances for the Marathon weekend are slim. We have a 1br at BWV for that weekend and have been waitlisted for a Studio at BWV or BCV for months. I know you are looking for a 2br but from what I have found the Epcot DVC resorts are full for that weekend.

WAHOO! The patience paid off. We got a 2BR at SSR for Jan 07. It came down to day 86 and II came through. We were getting nervous, but you guys said not to panic. We didn't and it paid off. The assistant on the phone said that this was her first Disney trade and was so excited. WAHOO, WAHOO, WAHOO. Thanks everyone! Let the planning begin!.

awesome! Congrats. I'll bet you may be coming back from there with a nice little contract from DVC!!! ;)

Congratulations! I'm glad it came through for you and a 2 bedroom to boot. :sunny:

Good luck on the Marathon.

I thought you might have success if you broadened your list. My only concern was that you were late in the game. I'm glad it worked out, enjoy.

Yeah! Celebrating with you! Great news!

I got lucky!

I'm booked in a 2bd at VWL 1/27/07 - 2/3/07. FwIW, I had a search going for 1/18 - 2/4 for any onsite DVC in a 1bd for either week. I started the search at the end of August and got a call within 3 days asking if I would mind a 2bedroom at VWL. pixiedust: My response? NO WAY!?!?!?!?

Anyhoo, I actually was not planning ahead and had Starwood options that needed to be used/week banked with II by the end of 2006. These options were actually originally for a Maui studio, but I waited so long that there was no availability. :headache: Starwood actually ended up depositing a Westin Mission Hills week(the week after Thanksgiving) which is way worse than a Hawaii week. Anyhoo, I was totally expecting an OKW or SSR 1 bedroom as there had been good availability popping up on II for our travel period. At the least, I was expecting to wait a few weeks and then II to call us occasionally to see if we wanted to change our preferences to include studios. I was pleasantly surprised and now am thrilled about our upcoming stay!

FWIW, we also traded into DVC this January 06. We deposited a Westin Mission Hills week and got a 1 bedroom at OKW.

We really like DVC, but we've got enough weeks to keep me busy for now!

Good luck in your search!

Rose

We got a @ 2 BDR for OKW for June '06. I got in the queue for the reservation way back in June- the first day I could. We actually got a DVC reservation back in August (for June) but were off in Hawaii on another exchange and didn't get back to them in time, so we lost it. I never look on II's website because they go through all the people in the queue first before it hits the website. The only time I have used it was to get into the Marriott Imperial Palms in Orlando in June of '03.

This time they just emailed us. If they'd done that in August, we'd have had it then. :rolleyes2 Oh well. I'm happy to get it now.

Do these exchanges show up on the Disney web site, and can they be made part of a package? We are going on a Disney cruise the fews days before (not an exchange). I thought we could stay at a Disney hotel for a night before the cruise to be able to use Disney transportation, take the cruise, come back and stay at OKW and catch a ride back to the airport. Will this work?

Also- are Disney Have it Your Way dining plans available for exchange guests, and are they worth it if you have a kitchen?

Thanks so much, we are very excited!
