I have tried using my miles for USAirways for three years now. Always sold out when I'm ready to book. I am looking to trade my miles in for ANYTHING else. What sites have been used? I know I saw some posts about this before but couldn't find any now. Thanks for any input!!

We have the same problem. Fortunately this year we decided that we wanted to go to WDW about 8 months in advance. Even then we were only able to book a Wednesday to Wednesday trip using our US Air miles. (That is if we wanted to get flights that left in the morning on the first day and came back in the afternoon on the last day.)

The program has just about become useless for us. The flight restrictions did not seem to be based on availability either. It appeared to be programmed to limit prefered flights, morning departure and afternoon return. I say this because I tried to do a reverse flight, from MCO to our hometown and back, and then I could get the flight times I wanted on a given day. I.E. early morning from here to MCO and afternoon from MCO to here.

If you can get the free tickets have you tried using your miles to upgrade to first? I just did that this morning and had no problems.

Some airlines are basing availability on how many seats they think they'll be able to sell in the future on that flight. Why make seats available on a preferred flight that will sell out? Some people book FF tickets when they first get into the system, up to a year in advance. It's also possible whatever allocation of FF tickets that were available for the preferred flights were grabbed by customers that plan a year in advance.

You might spend more miles to buy a first class seat or use the easy book option and spend twice the miles.

The solution might be to take an evening flight to MCO and use PL to get an airport hotel your first night.

SW has no capacity controls. If there is a seat available, on a date that's not blacked out, you can book it.
