Trading in Park Days for AP

Is there any way you can trade in unused park days for an AP with DVC discount without going down to WDW? I know it is must not be possible over the phone? Can you do it at a Disney Store? Or the World of Disney in NYC?
If anyone else has tried to do this let us know.

Trading in unused days of a MYW pass used more than 14 days ago and getting an AP -- Can be done but the exchange rate is really terrible. It is roughly this: Take the gate price of a pass consisting of what you consumed, subtract that from what you paid, and what is left is the trade-in value.

Trading in unused days of a (pre-2005) park hopper towards an AP (or towards any MYW pass) -- This cannot be done any more.

To answer the OP's question, it can only be done in person at a Guest Relations location in WDW. There is no other way.
