My sister in law is planning to visit Disney next summer and has those Alamo 3 day hoppers plus tickets w/no expiration (she was suppose to travel with us a few years back and had to cancel last minute - but she kept the tickets). Those tickets don't expire I know - but can she trade those in and get a better MYW. For example she has 2 adults and 2 children tickets. If she was to buy a 3 day hopper using the new tickets that adult ticket would be well over $250 - could she upgrade for to a 7 day hopper considering a 7 day hopper is around the same price. Does this make sense?

Sorry I'm so confused. I've been planning and completed my Disneyland trip so WDW is foreign to me - once again!! So much has changed since my last August 04 trip! :bounce:

Yes she can trade them in but she will only get what they went for back then & charged the difference of today's price. If I were her, I would use them first & then buy what I needed. It is never worth it to trade in old tickets...you end up loosing in the long run...

She paid $179 for the adult tickets wouldn't she only have to pay about $20 to upgrade to a DMW 7 day base ticket (roughly $200).

If she paid the $179, that is what will be credited back to her towards new tickets. The base ticket is a non hopper, will she be happy with that? Just be careful not to loose out on any of it. She can go to guest services at DTD or any park & ask them to give her the trade in value & what her balance would be. Then once she has the figure, she can decide if that is the better deal & do it. If it turns out that it isn't, then she can just purchase the tickets she needs. ...but yes, if she paid $179 ..that is what her credit towards the new ones would be.
