Trading in Disneyland

Hi all!

I'm going to Disneyland next week, and I was hoping that someone could help me out --

Is pin trading in DL as popular as it is in WDW? Do as many cast members wear lanyards? Are the lanyard series pins the same in both DL and WDW? Is there pin trading at CA as well?

Hi! Great questions and I hope maybe a veteran Disneyland trader will jump in with current information, but I can say that I was out there for the 50th Anniversary Celebration in July and while I must admit that I was overly busy spending time doing activities relating to the 50th and visiting the parks and didn't do much pin trading with other guests there I did do quite a bit of trading with Cast Members and there were a large number of Cast with pin lanyards on. We found some of the lanyard pins in California to be the same, and some to be different as the ones we found in WDW. I am not sure if any of this had to do with just the 50th Celebration we were there for or not, but I seemed to think there was quite a bit of trading going on. If you are there during one of the Pin Trading Nights at the Disneyland Hotel I would imagine you will find a number of other guests trading pins!

Like I said, my Disneyland experience is much more limited so hopefully someone else might jump in with more current or detailed information.

Go to either pinpics or dizpins (I used dizpins) and print out the lanyard series list with pics. There are WDW lists and DLR lists (but there are some cross overs so I recommend doing both) This way you will know what lanyard pins are exclusively DL.

Yes there is pin trading in DCA as well as DL and DTD as well.

Pin Trading is just as popular in DL. If you will be there on a weekend, check out the area at the end of mainstreet on the left (sorry, drawing a blank.. for wdw it would be the seating area outside Casey's) I think around 1 or 2 in the afternoon locals come out and trade on the weekends. Everyday super traders come out in the same area check with the pin cart folks for the times. Also, super traders come out over at California Adventure at PT flea, again check with the pin cart folks for times. They have different lanyard series pins, though I didn't see any on lanyards. Plenty of CM's wear lanyards and in general you will find different pins than you would in WDW. They also have gift with purchase pins the first sunday of the month.

Hi Donna (Long time no hear)

In Downtown Disney they have a new Pin store called Pin Traders, (its to the right of the monorail.) I usually only go once a month for GWP Sunday and they have CM's with pin vests and some traders hang out there. Most traders are in Tomorrowland at Little Green Men shop (formerly Premiere) or at Plaza Pavillion (near AP renewal area).
