Tracking DVC system issues?

Has anyone started keeping track of when they have system issues with the DVC Reservation system? I got to thinking I should start tracking dates, times, and what I was trying to do to really see how frequently this is an issue for me. Because it really does get annoying after a while. I wonder if DVC does any tracking on how frequently users have issues.

I don't tend to be "law suit happy", but it seems like if legal action isn't taken against them, they are not going to do anything to fix these issues in any sort of timely manner. I just don't know what the solution is to get them to fix their issues. Sometimes they seem to try to fix one issue and then up creating 4 more issues. It just gets so frustrating and I know most of you have felt this pain at one point or another.

I wonder if creating a thread where people can log this information would be enlightening/helpful for anyone. Not a thread for people to vent their frustrations, just one to log dates/times/transaction information. Thoughts???? Or is there already one of these somewhere and I'm just not aware of it?

I haven't been unlucky enough to have many issues with the website. If it is down when I try and do something it is usually back promptly.

In my mind there are different categories of issues.
My ranking of most egregious:
1) Resale borrowing glitch - this one deprives owners of their deeded first come first served access to their home resort & is ripe for litigation given the fact that it’s been well over a year w/ no fix.
2) Website crashing when you are trying to book at a competitive time, again depriving owners of first come/first served access. I assume this happens because demand exceeds the DVC site’s capacity - if so DVC needs to increase capacity to allow everyone trying access.
3) Lengthy phone waits - nothing more frustrating than trying to book w/ the website down & calling w/ an hour on hold while the villa you wanted disappears.
4) Disappearing/appearing inventory + incorrect inventory on the website. It’s happened at VGC twice, but through the years other DVC resorts have also had weird inventory situations arise, the most troubling being occasions where owners have had long booked villas canceled or changed - for example last fall when they took all of the AKV club villas out of inventory after they were booked due to construction. IMO they should be able to schedule construction more than 11 months out & just not put impacted villas into inventory for booking rather than schedule construction a couple of months out & then start moving people.
5) The Y/ND debacle.

I have had very few issues, if any, other than when it’s a system wide issue for a short time.

Fortunately, I am not impacted by the borrowing glitch.

I haven’t had many issues, but there are others that have issues it seems like all day everyday.

The member website has been hit or miss and has cost me a reservation before, but the Disney experience site is what really ticks me off. It’s an experience for sure, just not a good one.

I have a question, don't part of our member dues pay to operate and maintain the web site? If so does this mean we are paying for a web site that does not work properly?

Yes, part of our dues do pay for the whole IT infrastructure needed to support DVC operations.

As far as "work properly" goes, that's a bit hard to define. Even the big tech companies (Apple, Google, Msoft) have issues with their web sites working properly all the time. Is the DVC web site any better/worse than them? Better/worse than other (non-DVC) Disney sites?

Thanks, what you say makes sense.

I would think that if any of the big online retailers had the kind of problems we have all talked about with the DVC web site they would be out of business buy now.

I know the DVC web site is or may be unique in what it offers and does for the membership, however there have got to be people in the IT world who could build a more reliable web site you would think?
I am not in any way computer literate.

The last 3 reservations I have made, I could only make them for 1 person. I would have to log out and login a few days later to add the other people to the reservation. Weird, but it happened 3 times.
As far as other businesses having problems, Amazon seems to do an amazing job, as do other large corporations. If Disney is wanting to go more and more to online booking and plans management, they REALLY need to step up their game.

The difference between the DVC site and the other big tech companies you mentioned is that I didn't pay thousands of dollars in upfront costs plus annual dues to those big tech companies to provide me a product/service.

I get what you are trying to say that all web sites have issues at some time. But when other companies have issues with their web sites, they usually make an effort to fix those issues in a timely manner (just look at how frequently Apple puts out updates). IMO - DVC knows about their issues (at least some of them, especially the big ones), but doesn't seem to be making an effort to fix them in any sort of a timely manner.

Yes, it is part of the set fee we pay DVMC to manage the program. But, as owners, we have no recourse other than to keep expressing our displeasure because it is pretty impossible to remove DVMC.
