So I took your advice and DCs tracfone shld arrive tomorrow. I got the one with double minutes.

so do i order minutes on ebay or on tracfone and where do i get the phone number?

i saw on ebay a sale for 60 minutes and 90 days of service plus bonus codes (?wth) for 15.00. Not sure if it's good or not.

thanks all.

I have a tracfone, when it comes go online and register it/acctivate it.. you can add minutes there too. I go to Fat Wallet and search for codes for extra minutes(anywhere from 20 to 60) on there a 60 min/90 day card is 19.99 so you would get the 60 min doubled and then ad what the code gives you...I have never bought from ebay but maybe some one else has. I just looked and the only code I see recently is 84341 for 30 extra min but you could look around... you enter code on page when adding min.

There are alot of price comparisons you can do if you want to save money. First figure out what you want... we dont' use a ton of minutes, so the one year card works for us. I price at tracfone(it is the highest, but gives you a base price) then ebay and amazon.com Then do search for tracfone codes and you will find tons of bonus codes.

I use the one year card, I get triple minutes and usually find a code (Tracfone will even have them online and once you register, they will call and mail you different offers).
I just got 1450 minutes and one year of service for $99. That usually lasts unless I call a lot while I'm out of town and then I just buy extra minutes.

I have a Tracfone LG flip phone with double minutes. I don't use it a lot, so it's most convenient to get a 1-year card at $100 (Walmart). That's $8.83 per month after tax. While your phone is new, it's good to look for codes for minutes. When you've had your phone awhile, like me, the roll-over minutes add up. I have over 2600 minutes now, so I don't really need to shop for codes.

Edited to add: I've changed Tracfones twice since my original purchase. Each time, I bought an upgraded phone at Walmart for best selection in stock (Target was a disappointment). After the purchase, a Walmart employee would transfer my phone info to the new phone, so it was ready to use, with minutes and stored stuff intact. I appreciated this because I am not expert in electronic gadgets.

Mine says I have so many months to use it , then the service is turned off. Is there a way to extend this? I don't use very much so I am looking to get a very minimum amount.

If you buy a year it extends it for 1 year. Or if you buy minutes I think you get 60 days? If you have a lot of minutes left, the one year would be your best bet.

My DS has one, he doesn't use it much so i only buy the 120 mins I think it is for $19.99 every 3 months. He has had the phone for a year in a half and the minutes roll over. One time I even for got to add the mins and the phone was turned off, when I called they added his mins back to the phone for us:thumbsup2.

so to answer your question, just add minutes before your time is up and your minutes will roll over.

I usually buy the $19.99 minute option on the Tracfone website if I just need time added rather than minutes (we do not use cell phones much!) Then tracfone offers a "special" add on of the 1 year of service for $49.99 so for $70 + tax I get minutes and another 15 months total (1 year plus 90 days for the minutes bought.)

Grrrr...just did my $19.99 for 3 months tonight and didn't see the add on.:confused3 I would've been all over that! I'll be sure to look closer next time.

if you buy minutes ,then add more later, they add the end date to the date you already had.....like if I paid for a year, end date sept. 2013, then I run out of minutes, and add 60 tomorrow, they add the extra 30 days on that card to my next sept. end date

The 60 min card for 19.99 has 3 months service...if you have double min you get 120 min, if triple 180 min and 3 months service. I have an older phone maybe 4 yrs and I am always afraid if it conch out I will lose min and time, not sure how that works so that is why I usually only add the 60 min card every 3 months 4X a year so $80, I think they they also have plans that add min and time each month automaticly for like 9.99? read their site... They have a Tracfone forum on Fat Wallet and I think they might even now have a chat or question forum right on tracfone site...

If your phone dies, you can have your minutes and time along with your phone number transferred to a new tracfone. They may just need to manually do it through a CSR rather than directly online. You would basically just be upgrading the phone.

I guess it is better to buy a year.

Ok thank you, I thought I had read somewhere a few years ago that if the phone died you lost all the info. how would they know how many minutes and time you have left on the phone if your phone dies? That is confusing...I could not tell you right now what I have left on my phone except that I have to put time on it before we leave for Disney in Oct. other than that I have no idea...well not no idea I have between 200 and maybe 500. but thanks for the info I feel better a little and hope it is right... :)

My one-year card expired in June, and I didn't pay attention. The end of July, I needed to use the phone but it had no service. That's when I realized my error. I went right out and got a new one-year card, and the 'fone came back to life with everything just as it was.

good for you. but why not just go 'on line' and fill it up?

I'm pretty sure it's tracked by your phone number. So as long as you know your number, you should be ok. :) DH has one as he rarely uses a cell and his screen went completely black so we couldn't see any info and he got a new phone, gave the CSR his number & tada! New phone works.
