Well, unfortunately our trip is over :sad2: but we had a great time.

We arrived @ AKV on July 4th and headed over to Hollywood Studios to see the fireworks. We were really tired after driving 14 hours but I have never been to Disney on the 4th so I was excited. We also rode Toy Story Mania a couple of times and LOVED it. We went to Blizzard Beach and the grandkids had a blast. We checked out on Tuesday, July 8th and headed over to Vero Beach.

I have been to Vero a couple of times and really love this resort.
The weather was perfect but the waves were rough on our last day.The lifeguards asked everyone to stay out of the ocean. I was told that someone had to be rescued but thankfully they were okay.
We ate at Squid Lips and Capt'n Hirams. It was good but I only ordered chicken because I do not like seafood. I know I am really weird!!!
I signed up the grandkids for Turtle Troop and they really loved it. We can't ever seem to win the lottery but this was the next best thing.

Photos of the waves on our last day.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Thanks for the great pics. But I think you meant to say the weather and rough waves were perfect. :) DW doesn't like seafood either... everything other than fish is some sea INSECT.

Those are rough waves? I guess growing up on the Ocean I'm a little skewed but those don't look very imposing to me. I love Vero as well and am glad you enjoyed it.

What kind of room did you have at AKV? Interested in hearing about what animals you saw too.

Where were those surfers... were they directly in front of the resort?

Thanks....

I grew up going to the lake every year so almost any wave is big to me. :rotfl: We really had a great time though but the grandkids were a little disappointed they couldn't swim their last day.

We had a savanna view studio and saw mainly zebras and giraffes. We really love AKV and can't wait to go back again.

Yes, the surfers were directly in front of the resort and we had a great time watching them.

The only little downside was our room @ Vero. I have always stayed in an ocean view room and would sit on the balcony every morning. The room we had this trip was an ocean view room but it was more like a pool view and the balcony was closed. I had to stand up and look to the left to see the ocean so we didn't sit on the balcony. That was okay but I think I will ask for an open balcony when I return next year.:)

I'm compiling a database of Jambo House rooms. Do you remember your room number? Which savanna did it face? Was it a dedicated studio or a lockoff? Thanks!

LisaS,
Sorry but I don't remember my room # at either resort. Unfortunately I have thrown away my room key envelope which had the #. Next time I will make a note of it for future reference.

How likely is it to get Vero if you book right at the 7 month mark for July/August?

Would be looking for a 2 BR....Does anyone know if there are an abundance of 2 BR units?

Much thnk in advance....:goodvibes

I always book at the 7 month window for July and request an ocean view room and have never had any problems. I haven't tried to book a 2 bedroom so I don't know how difficult it is to book.

Very likely. We booked one for the last week of June this year at 7 months. June is in more demand than July or August. There are two (categories) of 2-bdrms... dedicated and lock-off. Your best bet for a good view of the ocean is to book a lock-off.
