Does anyone know Toysrus' policy on returning one of the items purchased during a Buy one get one 50% off sale? Thanks!

As long as you have the receipt, you're good. Check your receipt to see which one you paid full price for and which was 50% off. You can return the items for what you paid for them. It is really weird, because they sometimes have deals like buy two, get one free and if you give someone the free item with a gift receipt, they will tell them that the item has no value. (yes, that happened to me and my SIL with Fisher Price items last year) BUT, on the flip side, you can technically return the full price item and keep the one you paid 50% for. I don't know why they don't spread the savings over all the items, but they don't. And yes, technically it works the same for the buy two, get one free things (meaning you could return the two you paid for for full value and keep the free one). I'm guessing they'd catch on eventually if you returned a ton of stuff, but I find it weird how they do those sales because they leave a pretty big loophole.

Although, now I see on today's Lego BOGO 50% off coupon "Coupon must be surrendered at time of purchase and value is surrendered if items are returned". I have never seen that verbiage before and I don't really understand what it means. You'll just have to take your receipt and the items back and see what happens. make sure you let us know what happens!

The TRU where I live takes returns with a receipt only. If you do not have a receipt they will not take it back or even exchange it for another.

Last year I had to return an item that was on the BOGO 1/2 off. They would only give me back half of what I paid. They said when you returned an item you were no longer participating in the BOGO 1/2 off so the item that was kept had to be purchased at full price. Good Luck, please post and let us know how they handled it.

The last time I bought something like this at TRU the savings were spread out over the two items. The same thing when I had a $10 off coupon, every item on the receipt was discounted a little to add up to the value of the coupon.

And yes, TRU are return crazy...I very rarely shop there because their return policies are HORRIBLE!

I did my Toysrus return last night and I wasn't given any trouble at all. I had purchased 2 lego sets on the BOGO half off sale. I had my receipt and I was returning the more expensive, full price set. I was given the full amount back with no problems. I was surprised that TRU made it easy because my returns have been difficult at that store in the past. Thank you all for your input.

Same here, whenever I've used a coupon at TRU or BRU the discount amount is spread out over all items. If you return anything, you get back whatever pro-rated amount you were charged after the discount was applied.

I try not to shop there either because of their return policy. We got BRU store brand items as baby gifts that we were not able to return because we didn't have a gift receipt. We were perfectly willing to take a store credit for the lowest price the item had been sold at but since we didn't have a receipt & it hadn't been purchased from our registry, BRU would not budge - even though it was THEIR BRAND so it obviously came from BRU. I was so mad.

Yea I'm starting to think I will not be buying from TRU anymore either..... I seriously do not get what the possible 'loss' would be for giving someone store credit.... Heck Target is easier than TRU is now.... and we have like 8 around here and NONE of them have the same return policy!!!
