Perhaps this isn't unique to Toys R Us, but this Christmas shopping season I have found myself extremely frustrated with their convoluted "sales". I browsed through their 2 different ads last night, as well as the "Doorbuster" stuff that was an extra 25% off and the OTHER "Doorbuster" stuff that was like 20% off...or whatever, I can't even keep track.
Anyway, I only had a couple of things on my list - the Crayola products that were buy 1, get 2 free and a Wreck it Ralph Vanellope doll (suppsed to be 50% off). Of course, we ended up with a couple of extra items in the cart (Transformer Prime figures were Buy 1, Get 1 50% off too).
First, there is no signing anywhere in the store regarding the sale items. We find the Crayola section, but I can't recall if it was only specific products or if it was all Crayola and there is nothing there to indicate either way. We pick out 3 items and decide to give it a whirl. Pick up Vanellope, but again, no signs to indicate a sale (but by now, that is what I expect of this "2 day Epic Sale").
When we go to check out, the Crayola items we picked were NOT included in the promotion (well, one of them was, but not the other 2). The Transformers didn't ring up correctly, and Vanellope did not ring up 50% off.
I didn't push the Crayola issue, just bought what we picked out. The cashier fixed the Transformers, but we couldn't find the Wreck it Ralph Stuff in the printed ad. So, I paid full price (ugh!) and was done. It was making me crazy, so I looked again once I got home - yes, the Wreck it Ralph toys WERE 50% off, but I had to print a dumb coupon from home to get it. I wouldn't have minded so much if even ONE person in that store would have been able to tell me as much - but both the cashier and the "manager" seemed to have no idea they were on sale at all, in any advertisement.
So, I guess the point of this is, I am SO TIRED of 1-day, 2-day, 12-hour sales - stores can't seem to keep up with the pace of the price changes or the signing and I'll admit my local TRU (the only one within 70 miles) is worse than many, even when it isn't the hectic holiday season. Even worse, is that the employees are out of the loop too and they don't even seem to be familiar with the printed ads for that day/week.
Ok, sorry for the rant...I'm done now.
