toys r us return...no receipt

i know awhile back tru stopped doing returns without a receipt...is that still the policy? i would like to exchange gift for dd that we already have, but no receipt

Yes, I attempted to return something a few months ago that was clearly their baby brand, and they refused to take it back without a receipt, even though I clearly bought it there. They are supposedly able to look up purchases in their computer system if you have a TRU rewards card or purchased with a credit card. It didn't help in my case.

I'm not sure if they are relaxing this policy for the holidays though.

We'll be finding out the answer to this soon, too! In October (I think?) I asked a TRU employee about their return policy and he said that they had changed it for the holidays and you could return without a receipt, but I haven't yet tried it to be sure. Maybe call first? It may depend on the location.

we returned something at TRU in Oct w/o a receipt. And it was a clearance item and was over $50. They didn't give us any hassle at all.

I think it depends on the TRU

I went to one, they wouldn't take stuff back w/o a receipt and when I tried to return online purchases they wanted to give me store credit instead of putting the cash back on my card!!!

I went a few miles down the road and another TRU gave me store credit for the thing I didn't have a receipt for , and put the $$ back on my card for the online purchases...... they really need to get their crap together

I hope so...I bought my DD a mini tink camera there for $17 and then found it on sale at K mart for $5. Gonna take it back...I, being the crazy I am, threw out the receipt....

The answer is no it changed back in 2008 they ask for your phone number when you purchase things they can look it up with the phone number or credit card if u paid that way or your rewards card or if it is on a registry and is purchased off it
