Toyota Yaris

Well I did have a car... it was a Mercedes BMW but I kinda sorda wrecked it. So my mom said if I wante da new car I'd have to get a job and pay for it. I just seen a commercial for the Toyota Yaris it's pretty cheap and probably the only new car I could afford seeing as a only work at Dillards and only make 6.45 an hour. Would it be a good choice...it's not gonna compare to the BMW but it's as good as I could get. What do you all think...

There is a magazine called Consumer Report and it rates new items that you would use around the house such as vacuums, computers, monitors, tvs, etc. They test all the items and rate it based on several categories. They also do cars and always have cars rated in there magazine. I would see if your local library has it or see if they have a website. They are a really credible source...

They also have a book. Unfortunately none of our books/magazines are up to date enough to have the Toyota in it..

Toyota's blow. I'm sorry but I really hate foriegn cars. (except for maybe Mazda) I know someone who was driving a Chevy and crashed into a Toyota. Totaled the Toyota, left a dent in the Chevy.

So if I was looking for a new car and didn't have a lot of money, I would be looking at a Chevy Aveo or Chevy Cobalt. Maybe a Ford Focus.

I would go for the Toyota Yaris. Its affordable and cute. In my opinion, Chevy and Ford's are the worst cars that you could get. Except that Ford is good for trucks. Foreign cars are the best kinds of cars you can get in U.S.A. And american cars are rubbish here. In other countries American cars can be the best but not here. So, GO YARIS GO!! GO YARIS GO!!

So how much do you exactly know about cars? Ford and Chevy certainly are not the worst cars you could get. I did a side by side comparison, on a Focus and a Yaris. The Focus beat the Yaris in almost every catigory. I also did a side by side comparison on a Cobalt and a Yaris. This one was a little more even, but the Cobalt was cheaper, had a more powerful engine, a better warrenty, and I would say better crash test ratings, but the Yaris hasn't been tested yet, so yeah.

Also for laughs, I did a side by side of a Dodge Caliber, (the vehicle Dodge is using to replace the Neon), and a Yaris. The Dodge got better ratings by both experts and users. And honestly for what you get, the Caliber at only $100 more, gets more for your money.

As for your statement on how Chevy and Ford is the worst car you could get, except ford is good for trucks. That certainly isn't true. With Ford you have the Focus, which is probably one of the better, if not the best small car out there. Then you have the new Fusion, which is also very good, (I mean it's replacing the Tarus for crying out loud, it has to be). Then you have the new Five Hundred, which from what I've heard and read is also great. Then you have the Mustang, and their line of trucks, as you said are good.

Then you have Chevy, which I really don't have anything bad to say, except that the Impala should be Rear Wheel Drive, and that thank god they are discontinueing the SSR. Then you have their trucks, which although may not be the best, last forever.

But if you want a really, REALLY good American car, or any car for that matter, buy a Dodge.

So yeah, I would really recomend a Ford Focus or a Dodge Caliber.

But one last thing, don't but a Kia. They crumple like cardboard in a crash. My mom has a Kia, ran into one of those parking block things, and her front end is still messed up from it.

It's a 2000 and has over 90,000 miles on it, but it runs like new. Plus with the fact that the gas prices keep raising, it's good to have a small car like mine (uses less gas).

Now for the talk about foreign cars being better. Exactly. Like you said, they may be cute and all, but if they start breaking down or you get in a wreck and need new parts, your screwed. It's going to be a lot more to get it repared, even if you just buy the parts and fix it yourself. Plus like I said, a lot of foreign cars just get smashed to bits in a wreck.

As for Dodge, I like them because you can get a really good car in just about any catigory from them. They have some of the best SUVs, Trucks, and mid-size cars on the market. I mean, you have the Caliber, a very good small, fuel efficent SUV. The Stratus. The Durango. The Dakota, argueably the best mid-size truck on the market. The Ram, I would say the second best full-size truck on the market behind the Nissan Titan. Then you have their power section with the Viper, Charger, Magnum, and Challenger which will be coming out soon if I'm not mistaken. Although I must admit, a lot of it is their whole, "grab life by the horns" attitude. I mean, they aren't coming out with these stupid small 4 cylinder cars that get 93257938758923175 MPG. They are brining back Muscle Cars, putting big horsepower engines in station wagons. Putting Hemi's in everything. And adding depth to their SUV department. I like what they are doing.

And I'll gladly take that Focus off your hands when you get your Mustang.

Our dodge has lasted for 7 years now.. Sure the windows are broken but : it has been a good car. Our ford is ok, it has had its problems but thats ok. I personally like Hybrids and Mazdas. I would honestly just get a cheap car. Everyone here has old beaters or huge trucks, go figure Its sad because our gas is almost 4$ a gallon to

I'll say go for it, it's not a gas guzzler (which gas is said to go up to over $5 by the summer), and it's cheap. You have to think all about gas mileage and make sure you read up on difference sites about the fuel tank (some of the fuel tanks created by some companies are made poorly so the gas eats away at the metal).

You hate foreign cars but you recomend an Aveo? That car is built in Korea by Daewoo and imported to the US to be sold at Chevrolet dealers (and Pontiac dealers in Canada).

Personally I wouldn't buy anything that wasnt a 6cylinder, unless I was planning to rip the engine to pieces for parts.

As far as dodges go, my mom has had hers for almost 11 years. My family has six dodges. Of course theres been the occasional problem just as you would with any others, but nothing we couldnt fix ourselves.
You may also want to look into Pontiac Grand Ams.

Oh, and engines dont just stop working. Yah, if you don't take care of them, they may. But they dont just break down because the manufacturer sucks.

But remember in the end, its your decision. Good Luck!!
