Our DS4 is super excited about seeing the Toy Story musical! Do they have this show on a specific night (we're on a 4 nt sail)? Just curious b/c Dh and I have reservations for Palo on the 2nd nt (and when I read a recent Navigator this was the nt of the TS musical). If I could find out ahead of time, then I'll know whether or not to get in line to change our dinner nt. (Oh, and I guess I should mention that we couldn't see the show before or after dinner on nt 2 b/c the only res time available for Palo was 6:30).

We were on the Wonder for 4 nights 4/4-4/8. I pulled out my Navigators to confirm the schedule. Assuming it's still the same here it is:
1st night: Golden Mickeys 6:15 and 8:30
2nd night: Toy Story the Musical 6:15 and 8:30
3rd night: Movie (5:30 & 8:15) and Pirate Party 9:45
4th night: Disney Dreams (1:30, 6:15 & 8:30)

Oh, boy...I was afraid of that! Guess we'll just have to wait and see if the schedule is the same and if so, try to change our dinner resos to nt 4. Thanks for the info! Btw, we are cruising early Sept (yay!!!)...did I read somewhere that the second seating is at 8:30 (instead of 8:15)?

You shouldn't have a problem changing your reservation. Just get to Wavebands around 12:40 or so on embarkation day. Plus, you'll know your rotation to see if you're missing a restaurant you don't want to miss.

We cruised on the 4-night in March (and will be doing so again on September 5th!). On that cruise, our second seating was at 8:15. Don't know if they've changed it, but I haven't seen anything that suggests they did.

Weren't they talking about pulling that show off the ship?

From what I've read it is not the "best" of the shows, but its what our son is the most excited about right now. You know how 4 year olds can get hooked on something :) So, I hope its not pulled within the next 30 days!! (we are on the Sept 5 sail too)!!

So, now I'm torn...I didn't want to miss a restuarant...that's why we planned Palo's for the 2nd night. I'm thinking that maybe I'll try to get an early seating on nt 3, then get our son from the kids club and go check out the pirate stuff- don't really care abour missing the pirate themed dinner, but don't want to miss the fireworks, etc. Any thoughts, suggestions???

I loved the Toy Story show. More so than any of the others. We are going on the Wonder the end of this month and I can't wait to see it again.

That's exactly what we did on our last cruise! Early Palo on night 3 and grab the kids for the Pirate show and fireworks. You'll only miss the movie that night as there is no show. Plus, if Animators is your restaurant for nights 2 and 3, you won't miss that "show".

We're doing the same thing on our upcoming Labor Day cruise so we'll probably be at Palo at the same time as you if you do this. However, this is a cruise sans kids for us, so we'll skip the Pirate party this time. We might watch the fireworks from Deck 4 though.

Tgirl- thanks for your thoughts on the Toy Story show. It is my son's current obsession and we've talked about it so much that we just cannot skip it- even it is means missing Palos!

KDad- Darn, wish I had known this info earlier!! Hopefully, I can get our res changed (we are really looking forward to that one dinner alone ;0) We are going to try Dine & Play for the other meals...but this is our first cruise so everything will be trial and error.

As far as the confusion about second dining times, the DCL website says second seating on the Wonder is 8:15 p.m. On the Magic second seating is staggered (8:15, 8:30, 8:45) so that may be why you thought second seating was at 8:30.

gooseygoose What about trying Palo for brunch? It is very nice and you won't have to choose which evening to "miss". We did brunch on our sea day and it was great. I know it all depends on what's available though.

Your son will love the Toy Story show. My family really enjoyed it and the songs were stuck in our heads for days!

For what it's worth when we sailed last Sept we loved Toy Story The Musical. Our then three year old was in heaven and my husband and I really enjoyed it. We've discussed that it's the one show on the ship we really don't want to miss.

Like I said, I doubt if you have any problem changing your reservation once onboard. On our last cruise, I got to Wavebands right at 1:00 pm and there was already a long line. I still got what we wanted. I'd suggest getting there around 12:30 to 12:40 pm as they start taking reservations a little before 1:00 pm.

As another Poster said, you can go to brunch. We're in the minority in that we prefer dinner. It's more like a special event or date night! Brunch is nice, but it takes a couple of hours out of your one precious sea day IMO on the 4-night cruise. I'd rather be out in the sun!

On our five night we were lucky nough to have this shown 3 times in one day and we went to it in the after noon right after watching the movie....

We ended up leaving half way through.

Dont know if it wasnt good, or we had just had enough toy story.

For what it is worth...
We had a back to back cruise in July (a 5 day and a 4 day) and I have to honestly say I thought Toy Story was the worst show I have ever seen (or heard) on DCL.
Just sayin'... :sad2:

I thought "Once Upon a Song" was worse than Toy Story.

I agree. I had a really hard time staying awake during this show, it was that bad. And I LOVE DCL shows normally. But Toy Story just isn't the same quality.

On our last cruise (Sept. '09) we enjoyed Toy Story and, except for some loud noise during some of the scenes, so did DS, who was 2 at the time.
