Toy Story 3 - 3D or regular?

we saw it in 3 D Imax last night and it was a really good movie but if I had it to do over I wouldnt do 3 D, it made me nauseous and gave me a headache. It did look more life like but I wouldnt do it again...they did have kid size glasses for my dd4.The only thing was if I tilted my head at all it went blurry...I had to keep my head in the same position the whole time which hurt.It was a fun movie though, cant wait for the DVD!

Loved the movie, but would not waste the money on 3D. We saw the 3D version only because it was at a better time for us, but I saw nothing that made it worth the extra money. No 3D effects whatsoever...well, there might have been one or two in the very beginning, but obviously nothing memorable.

I only saw the regular version. 3-D stuff makes me sick (headache and nausea). That seems like an awful lot of money just for 3-D. The regular version was incredible!

I would see it in 3D.

I was surprise that so many didn't care for HDTV, and before that, for DD5.1 surround sound, and before that, DVDs instead of videotapes, and so on. There are always people who disparage artifacts of progress.

That's the way our family feels about it as well. And now, we could even wait to see the 3D at home. :)

It has nothing to do with progress or wanting to stick to "old ways." For me, it has everything to do with how comfortable I am. 3-D movies, yes, even the new ones, make me sick.

Also, I don't want the added expense. Regular movies are expensive enough with my family of four (especially when rude people are sitting behind us, but that's for another thread).

I took DNiece4 last night to see the regular version. Cost $0, I won the tickets!:cool1: It was great. I think it is the best of the 3.

i saw ts3 last night in 3d and it was absolutely amazing and well worth the extra money.

We took the kids to see it in 3D last night. We talked about it on the way home and there just weren't enough special effects to make the 3D version worth the upcharge. 2D would have been just as good in my opinion.

They had the child size 3D glasses here when Shrek came out. We paid $9 for adults, $8 for kids.

We saw Avatar in 3D and I don't think I would have liked it as much in 2D. That movie was worth paying extra for the 3D!!!

We saw the 3d version last night. We love to see 3d movies. I get sick very easily, but these do not bother me. To us it's not about special effects, nor do I think that's what the film makers are going for either. It's more about the depth and richness of the picture. Things really do look like they are in the foreground, or background, I just think that looks really cool. I know people go expecting to see things pop into your face and stuff, but that's really not what these are about.
Now, garbage like The Final Destination, that was all about shoving things in your face, and it was awful LOL.

:thumbsup2 TS3 was a great movie that was even better in 3D.

Sorry, but with respect, I believe that there is a relationship. I draw the parallel to how so much of our lives now is driven by the ability to keyboard (what we used to call "typing" ;)). It's second nature for children these days, while my mother used to find the whole idea of doing her job (bookkeeping) using a computer distressing.

Also, keep in mind that the technology is changing, with the sick-inducing value, even for folks unaccustomed and/or disinclined toward 3D, being reduced from technology to technology, starting with anaglyph technology (two color glassses), to polarizing filters, to interference filters. Each generation resulted in more life-like, and less nausea-prone 3D. However, those were all passive technologies. Now we are starting to see active technology, such as shutter glasses. This will provide an even better experience. As time goes on, between how folks will be more successfully introduced to such technology, and the improvement of the technology itself, the advantages will continue to increase and the disadvantages decrease.

Also, I don't want the added expense. Regular movies are expensive enough with my family of four (especially when rude people are sitting behind us, but that's for another thread).
If it isn't 3D then it will be something else. In a capitalist society, its grow or die. While lots of folks, as they get older, pine for things more reminiscent of the good times that they choose to remember from their youth, the reality is that progress marches on, perhaps leaving some folks behind.

Thanks for all the input. We decided to splurge and go to the 3D. It was definitely richer than 2D, and it doesn't take long before you stop noticing the difference. It was a great movie and I'm glad I took my Kleenex!
