I am going to Disney World next year and I want to go on Tower of Terror, but I have a few questions about the ride.

1. I don’t like the “stomach drop” feeling, but is the Tower of Terror worth riding for the experience?

2. How bad is the stomach drop feeling on the Tower of Terror? Does the feeling linger or cause nausea after being off the ride?

I don’t think it’s as bad as regular free fall rides since it isn’t one big drop. It’s up and down. Much better stomach wise in my opinion.

The ride experience is awesome, so I would definitely try it once.

I can't handle a lot of rides at this point but ToT is still my absolute favorite. I agree with the PP that said the stomach drop feeling isn't as bad on ToT vs others because it's up and down instead of one big drop. If I rode Everest or Rock'n Roller Coaster, I'd be done for the day but I don't have any lasting effects from ToT. I'd probably still ride it even if I did though! It is so awesome!!

I refuse to ride similar rides at Universal or Six Flags, but I love Tower of Terror because of the whole experience and the story that goes with it. Like @ShayBells said, it isn't one huge drop it is several medium to small drops. But you never really know how many times you will drop because it is a random setting. I also don't ride the big roller coasters that are outside where I can see the whole track, but will ride any of Disney's roller coasters and others that are in the dark.

I really hate pure drop rides (love roller coasters though), but everything else about ToT overrides that for me. I personally think it's the best themed ride in the park, from the building to the queue to the pre show to the ride itself to the gift shop. I've gotten really good bracing myself for the drops, lol. I try to always sit against the side of the car so I have something sturdy to lean against.

@RolloTomasi I sit on the side too! I also tend to ride it at night so the change from dark to looking out over the park isn't as drastic. LOL!

I believe this is one of those things that just depends on the person. My hubby loves the ride but will only do it once per day. Anything more, especially right in a row upsets his stomach. Now my daughter and I would spend the entire day on TOT if we could. IMO this is the BEST attraction in WDW! The themeing is spectacular, the mechanics of the ride are amazing (Google how it works-fascinating!) and its just super fun!

If you’ve never experienced TOT you have to try it at least once. Maybe ride late in the day before leaving in case you find it upsets your stomach.

Took me about 10yrs to finally go on this ride, and man, I couldn't stop laughing! Now I go on it every visit! well that is until it's now tier 1 lol.... i only fast pass...

I can do drops on roller coasters because I like the rest of the stuff enough to override the drop feeling, but ToT kills me because it's only drops. I've done it once and that was enough. When my kids are older I might be willing to do it again, but 🤮

One thing I would like to point out is that the ToT drop sequence is randomized by the ride, so there may certainly be a "big drop" mixed in with the smaller drops (in fact I think every ride sequence (there are 4 total) has at least one full tower drop to a top speed of 39 MPH. On top of that, the ride is not a "free fall" but is actually a powered descent, which is faster than free fall (you are being pulled downward at a high speed). That said, it does feel more like "bouncing" for most of the ride, so that may or may not be better for you.

Agreed with most people here, it’s definitely worth a try. The theme of the entire experience is my favorite at Disney. The queue, the pre loading room, and the ride itself are so well done.

There are medications you can take like dramamine to prevent nausea from motion sickness.

On that note, I highly recommend meclazine over Dramamine or Bonine. You just ask for it at the pharmacy counter. Very inexpensive and, for me anyway, works infinitely better than the others and without a bunch of side effects. You only have to take one a day, and I start taking it a day or two before our trip. Does wonders!!!
