Tower of terror

We went a few years ago. My then-5 year old (who is borderline nervous on HM) enjoyed it. My 6 year old didn't like it. My 30 year old self haaaaaaated it - it was way too scary for me. :rotfl: I would say it depends on the personality, not the age.

BTW both my kids have gone on the HM from when they were 3. One of them never was scared, either then up until today. The other was fine with it until she turned 5, and then she had some sort of fantasy jump in her mind and she was terrified of it for a while. She's OK with it now, but still a little wary. They do go through developmental stages, so just because they're OK with it now might not mean that the fear might not resurface later on...

I also loved BTMR and Space Mtn as a kid. I couldn't fathom why my mom didn't like them. They were the BEST! Now, with my adult self I'm a bit nervous to go on them. I feel they're almost too risky - even though I know they're really not, but still. A kid (or adult) could be thrown by the spooky atmosphere, ride mechanics, fear of motion sickness - different stuff. It all depends.

Last year, DS was 4 and begged to ride it. During the pre show he kept saying "it's not real it's not real" He was doing fine except some real college boy jerks thought it would be hilarious to obnoxiously scream on the ride. Every kid under 7 years old was crying when the ride ended. DS swore he wouldn't ride it again....but 4 days later he asked to go back! We rode it twice that day (with much better peers on the ride too!) And he loved it.

Needless to say, the mama bear in me wanted to smack those college boys for ruining my baby's first big boy ride, but so proud of him for doing it again!

If she didn't like POC or HM I would go with a big NO. TOT still gives me butterflies.

In my opinion, the scariest part of ToT are the scenes leading up to the actual drops. The first time I rode it, I was terrified because I wasn't sure when the drops were going to start. But after the initial drop, I find myself laughing hysterically the entire time. I think my almost 4 year old would like the actual drops because she loves rides and has ridden some pretty intense rides at Six Flags with my husband, but I think everything leading up to the drops would scare her.

I don't know. We are going back in the fall. DD will be over 40", and we won't be riding it. There will be other trips!
