How bad is it? This is one of the rides that I most excited about. I am really afraid of heights, but the DH isn't. When I asked him if he was going to ride it with me, he said "No"! I don't understand...for some reason he thinks it's a really scary ride...so tell me, how scary is it??

I love this ride, but to me it was very scary. The scariness factor seemed to come from the not knowing what was going to happen and when. The suspense build up was intense.

For me, the anticipation of the drops is much worse than the actual ride itself. That is the scary part.

To me, this is a totally delightful ride. I have done this over and over again,
in the same day. Although, this is not generally a ride that makes me sick, I have learned to not do this one on a very full stomach. The food tends to come back up a bit when the elevator "falls". :teeth:

For me personally it's one of my favorite rides. It's the kind of ride that while you are on it you think to yourself "Why the heck am I on it!". But after I'm always happy I did!

Tell your hubby to at least try the ride once and then he can make his own opinion.

That's what I convinced my husband to do and it's now one of his favorite rides!!

Let me preface my comment with the fact that I absolutely hate rides that take you up and drop you down. They do not scare me, nor make me sick, I just don't like them at all. Not fun.

Having said that, I really enjoyed Tower of Terror. Neither DW nor myself had ridden this ride til this past January. Me, because of my aforementioned distaste for the genre, and her, because she's a big chicken. :teeth:

So, I relented so she could experience it, and was really pleasently suprised. Maybe it's the themeing. It is possible that the extra backstory is what is missing from the other drop type rides that I have ridden. :confused3

In any case, I think you and your husband should try the ride once and then determine whether or not you will ride it again.

As for me and DW, we will definitely ride again in September when we return.

The ride itself is only half the show...the ToT might be the best themed ride at WDW. The details in the queue are just amazing.

The ride itself is really quite smooth, IMO. The anticipation of what's next makes it a great time, but I usually find myself laughing through it. :)

DD12 doesn't do heights or elevators . So this past year she has been getting on a bunch of new rides ( it all started witha Cali Screaming bribe while in DL /CA ).

So we build up and now she's doing all but 1 coaster at Six Flags and she's talking about doing RnRRc and Everest so I throw out there another bribe ( Now she watched her mother come off DL in tears shaking ).

She goes I will get on it during the day only for 2 pins ( most bribes are 1 pin) , I agree and off we go EMH right to fastpass TT and get in line for RnRRc .Boy did we get some good drops at least 2 full ones and she was fine eyes closed most of the ride and wanted to get on it later when MOM came with us.

So a few days later we get their and I try to explain that it's never the same ride twice so expect that no problem. We go in fastpass bright and sunny , Well when the doors opened we got hit by the biggest downpour We've seen all week so bad it distorted the camera so here's this great pic with her hands up eyes wide open and so blurry I just couldn't buy it.

So it's not that bad and remember it's just a ride and if you have no conditions that would stop you from going on I would it's a great ride and the drops are not the part of it.

I rode it on our last trip for the first time. I kind of wondered why I had not before. It was not nearly as bad as I had thought it would be.

I have been on this ride a couple of times. And I have decided that I really don't enjoy being dropped! Rock 'n Roller Coaster doesn't bother me, but this one really wigs me out.

I love ToT, but don't like things like Mission Space. I agree with the above poster that it's one of the best themed attractions @WDW.

It's not really all that bad.

The "ride" part, before the drop, is totally awesome! The drop itself isn't all that bad at all. The scariest thing is more the anticipation of it than anything, once you get over that, it's quite enjoyable actually.

Tell me this...as you are going up in the elevator...can you see out, or is it dark just like you are inside an elevator? We have a ride here at Six Flags over GA called the Free Fall and you are out in the open the whole way up and that is what scares me the most, not the actual drop. Just wanted to ask and see how much you can actually see, and if you can tell how far up you really are before you drop.

No, you can't see out... on the way up anyway. And it's not really all that dark... well, not on the way up anyway...
