OK, so are the drops really that bad? I know the "Tower" is 13 stories high, but the elevator does not go all the way up and it does not fall all theway to the bottom floor, right? Maybe I am trying to psych myself up by making it not seem as bad. Do the drops really feel intense? I went on it before when I was in high school and before they made multiple random drops. I am leaving tomorrow for WDW and I HAVE to ride this ride. I chickened out twice last August after waiting in the line for like 30 minutes. HELP! :guilty:

It depends on how much you mind "drops" in general. The picture we have (that they take of you while you're dropping) shows my sister crying and me looking at her and laughing...so, some people can handle it, some can't. (By the way - neither of us feel the need go on it again in the near future)

I love ToT so I am biased but the drops are enough to get that funnyfeeling in your stomach (like you left it on the 13th floor!). Sometimes the drops are just a few floors, sometimes more. Each ride is different so it's hard to predict. You should give it a try..have fun!

LOL Miranda!! You gotta just do it, don't even think about it. I was SOOOOO glad I went for it in Feb. You'll feel GREAT after you get off!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Stop by our meet if you are in Epcot on Wednesday!!

Try to get yourself on it with a shorter wait. Those 30 minutes in line are giving you too much time to think about it by the sounds of it. I love Tot but it is too intense for some people who hate the feeling of dropping. Good luck and have fun! :goodvibes

For years I felt like I had to prove to people I could ride rides that I really didn't want or like to do. So I rode roller coasters and did the big drop things... Then I figured out I don't need to prove anything to anyone. I know I can ride the ride, the question is do I want to and will I enjoy it?

The drop is intense. You do get the funny feeling in your stomach and the feeling of weightlessness as you are falling. I ride it once every year because my husband enjoys it. It's not so bad I refuse to ride again, but since I don't like the feeling of falling, I focus on the special effects of the ride for the enjoyment!

You are at Disney to have fun and be happy!

The first time we were at WDW my DD was 6. She loved it. On our next trip, she was 8, we had to ride it over and over again (it was December so it was easy). We're going back next month and plan on riding it several times again.

You got that right. The dropping sensation was way too intense for me. I was so afraid that I couldn't even scream, and I love to scream on good rides. I did enjoy the theme and all and I can see how people love this ride because it was great, but I just don't know if I can put myself through it again. My DD8 loved it and can't wait to ride it again. DH will have to ride it with her this time.

When we got off the ride and viewed the pictures, DD was looking at me with this pathetic look on her face, almost like she was embarrassed or something, and I had eyes closed and the worst grimaced face you can imagine.

I think one way to brave this ride is to know what's going to happen. ToT is not totally random like some people like to think. There are 4 sequences of drops that the computer randomly choses between when your elevator enters the ride shaft. So you'll always get one of the 4 sequences and soon enough, you'll start to recognize them. Last Dec, I rode ToT about 5 times over a few days and every time I got the same one! I was so bummed.

Check this site out, Tower of Terror Drop Sequences to see the drop sequences and learn more about it. Personally, I say DO IT! You have gotta ride it! You are firmly in place with your seatbelt and it's only 3 minutes, so DO IT!

My advice is you have to try it at least once. If you have a weak bladder however head to the bathroom before the TOT.......I nearly peed my pants I was laughing so hard :rotfl: . DD7 was none to keen of seatbelts after our ride.

I rode ToT in DCA twice - and the initial drop is pretty intense! I wanted to scream - my mouth was open - but no sound came out :flower: Once we went down and came back up, I was laughing! :rotfl:

I think the ToT scenery, CMs, and storyline builds up a lot of anxiety before the actual ride. The second time I rode it, I knew what to expect and it was actually more fun.

Although I wouldn't let my DD4 ride on it, I have seen many young children ride on ToT with no problems. I even saw two girls in the ToT line behind me eating ice cream!! :crazy2:

my dd 7 loved tot and my dd4 couldnnt get on ans was very upset although she was 40 in on everyother they said she didnot make the cut here ! therefor i didnot get to ride cant wait to go w/out the kids to try it!

Ya'll are all right. The anticipation of the unexepected is what gets at me. I am sure once I get the first ride out of the way, I will go on it again and again. I didn't do it last time I was there and I felt like a loser when I left. I felt like I hadn't gotten my money's worth (although I had). My boyfriend is being very good with me. He says, "We'll go if you decide to and no big deal if you don't." He stood in line with me twice last August when I chickened out at the last minute (both times). He didn't tease me like I thought he would... maybe its because he was a little nervous too! ;)

Oh well! I am gonna do it this time! We are getting in tomorrow evening and we will probably head over to MGM since they are having EMH tomorrow night. I will be sure to post the (hilarious) ride photo when we get back!

Thanks for all the advice---- especially to Ducky4Disney for letting me see the drop sequences. That makes me feel a lot better just thinking I know what will happen!

The last time I was at Disney was in 1995....back when tot did not have indiv seat restraints. I rode right next to my Dad who is a very large guy.....and during the drops I was airborne and hanging on to the bar for my life.....needless to say I was scared to death...and cm's had to scrape me out of that ride. I'm not sure if I'll be riding it this time around.

Don't worry about it. We took my 75 year old mom on it and she loved it. Sure you get the funny feeling, but it's not so much fear like on a roller coaster. Have a great time. Don't miss it. :Pinkbounc

Yes, I would say it all depends on what you think you can handle.

I don't find it scary or intense at all! It's all fun. My mom & dad (who are in their mid-60's) also find it super fun.

Maybe if you just try to think logically during the ride and not let your imagination take over... remember that it's a theme park ride, and it's not real. It is a carefully engineered experience. Thousands of people rode before you, and thousands more will ride after! Of course, don't force yourself if you're still uncomfortable.

The thing that makes the tower of terror so great is the build up storyline they take you through before you get on the ride, and while you're up on the 13th floor. This was probably my favorite ride at all of disney, and a close second was the rockin' roller coaster the last time i was there. You'll probably love it when you conquer it! Just remember, it's only a ride!

Just don't psych yourself out too much in the line. I LOVE rollercoasters, rides, etc. and have done it for years on every kind of ride you can think of...but I still get that nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach just before the ride starts. Try to look around and enjoy the scenery and feel of the pre-show without dreading it too much. Get a Fast Pass, so you can move through the line quickly.

My DD (4) and I did it in March, and there were quite a few "ups and downs". I kind of lost track of how high up we were in the ride. By the way, my DD LOVED it...it was her favorite. Good luck! It might turn out to be your favorite too!

We love it!!! Something about that funny feeling you get in your stomach-its the best!! :rotfl:

While I love rides, I won't be going on ToT again. It made me think of what it would be like to be in a plane crash .... dark, plumetting, screaming all around ...
Did I mention I have a fear of flying?
