Tower of Terror changes to GOTG themed attraction

MiceAge makes up a lot of their information for clickbait. This is a false rumor that should be ignored. Don't worry, TOT is never changing and there is no GOTG attraction coming.

OH THANK GOD.

I knew about that rumour, but this post kinda confirmed it, so I freaked out! But I'm glad it's fake!!! So glad!!

A long long time ago they used to be a bit more accurate but in recent times they've been humiliated by insisting that a Monstropolis miniland was coming by 2014, the Subs were done for and the 2014 refurb was an excuse to close them, plus they also insisted that Toontown would get dipped for SWL. Honestly I wouldn't mind if MiceAge got taken down off the internet. Take my advice and don't listen to those rumors. Also, this press release explicitly says TOT will be around during Halloween time this year.

:offtopic: I laughed out loud when they said a holiday food and wine festival is coming to DCA. In all honesty I can't tell the difference between rumor and fact until Disney announces stuff officially, and for the record I'm 110% down with a holiday food and wine festival, it just sounds... weird.

How can anyone take MiceChat seriously? First the suggestion that all of the budget cuts around DisneyParks were due to Shanghai is ridiculous. It may be the excuse people are being given, but one has nothing to do with the other. Second, it's now clear that all the cuts were specifically to put DLR in a good spot to allow budgetary autonomy from WDW, and that's precisely what they got. Third, while MiceChat was moaning about all the budget cuts in a previous update, here they are, talking about how wildly profitable DLR is and how it's keeping Parks afloat ... with no mention of the OBVIOUS connection to those same budget cuts they decried.

That said, they do have contacts, and some of their info is right on occasion, but they're clearly being fed that info from someone low enough level to get the "company line" and "cast rumor mill" all at the same time.

This is exactly why I can't trust what they're saying. DL actually puts out info effectively squashing the rumor, and the next week we read MiceChat doubling down. It's like those youtube videos where "the world will end/the pope will become the antichrist/the president will hand over control to the illuminati" on May 23. And then the day passes and the videos now say August 30th or whatever. A bunch of garbage.

I didn't know MiceChat had such reputation. :0

I already unliked the page. :/ don't want to get any more fake news. Thanks for letting me know, guys! ❤️

MiceChat didn't make up this rumor. It's been around for a while and picking up steam. That said it is, at this point, still just a rumor. Nothing's official until Disney announces it.

I can start a rumor too... Instead of Season of the Force in November there will be a Marvel overlay in DCA. Bugs Land will be Ant-Man Land. The Frozen live show will have Elsa dressed as the Hulk, and she'll leap out and smash the audience. And to promote the newest movie, Black Panther will worth at Schmoozies.

I was sick when I read that article (it was linked in the Christmas superthread, I think). It's my favorite attraction and the awesome Twilight Zone/old Hollywood theming is a huge part of that. Thanks to the OP for the petition link. I'm totally signing it even if it is still a rumor!!

I would just like to point out that not everything micechat puts out is false info or click bait. They had the star wars plans almost spot on before they were announced. Its also not just micechat saying ToT is getting a guardians make over. Several very good sources have this happening and its supposed to close this September.

They do get things right, some times. But as far as Star Wars spot on...well first they said that parts of Tomorrowland would be bulldozed to add new land. Then they said that the existing Tomorrowland would be rethemed to Star Wars land. Then they said Toon Town was going away, and they doubled down on it and said it over and over that it was absolutely certain. And when the Star Wars plans were finally announced by Disney MC continued to insist that the land would encroach on part of Toon Town and that Toon Town was going to be shrunk.

The problem is that they get their information from people at Disneyland, many of them CM (hence all the moaning about how CM are treated). They do have some higher up "friends", but it's not like they're talking to the presidents (after all they detest upper management). I think there is truth in the things they say. But they throw out stuff before anything is official. And before it's official, anything can change.

My guess is that the Tower of Terror retheme was a real thought. The original rumor (from MC) was that it was going in both Florida and CA, but that Florida did not want it permanent. That was the last time it was mentioned as a double park thing. Now Disneyland has announced the Halloween happenings saying that TOT will be open for the haunting season, but MC is still claiming it's closing in September. I guess we'll see in the next few weeks as the schedules start to come out. But my guess is this will be like the many other rumors in that it is founded in truth, but plans changed and it won't happen.

This was a very strong rumor at one point, but seems to have cooled off. I think the backlash was pretty strong and even Disney knows it. They do want to get GOTG into the parks, but the new rumor is that Epcot will get it as a new ride. They would probably just replicate the new ride at DCA should they want it there. Hopefully the Tower is safe for good now.

Yes Tomorrowland and then the submarines were the original plan for star wars. You need to realize though that plans change all the time within Disney. Originally at DHS for example Star Wars was going to go in the echo lake area where indiana jones is and expand into the parking lot. Those plans changed to go where LMA was. Toontown is now being slated for a Fantasyland expansion. You can read about that in my latest rumors article.

Exactly anything can change which is why you saw them say the three different locations for star wars land.

The original rumor wasn't from MC it was actually from an incredibly good source on wdwmagic. Who reported this months before MC did. Florida will now be getting guardians in epcot while DCA is still supposed to get guardians. I have not seen ToT mentioned in the Halloween activities at Disneyland. ToT was not mentioned in the Disney Parks blog write up. MC is not the only source claiming ToT will close in September. From what I know its something Bob Chapek the head of Disney Parks and Resorts wants not necessarily something DLR management wants.

DCA doesn't have the room for the ride that seems to be planned for epcot. However DCA is supposed to get a Captain America Coaster.
