Tower of Terror and a 3 year old?

I'm not sure if somebody else suggested this but when my daughter was tall enough and we were getting ready for our trip we watched YouTube videos of all those rides I think it really helped her make a better decision and she also knew what to expect she loved it and rode it over and over and over

If he is tall enough I'd let him try it.
With our kids as long as they are tall enough we 'make' them try a ride once. If they don't like it they don't have to do it again (I will say if I *knew* my kids were terrified of a certain something in the ride I wouldn't make them). My then 7 year old didn't want to do Tower of Terror but I think she was mostly afraid of the name. She was fine during the ride (and actually the ride picture caught her at a good moment where she was looking out over the park ) but did say she didn't want to do it again.

This is exactly our policy. We make them try everything once and then go from there.

My DS8 is off the charts tall, so he has been riding the 40" rides from 2.5 years old and yes, the 44" inch rides from 3.5 years and the 48" rides from just turned 5 years old. While ToT isn't his favorite, he'll ride it at least once a trip. We did go through a phase around age 4-5 where we had to call it Tower of Fun because Tower of Terror was too scary

When my daughter was 3 she went on it for the first time and loves it. Goes multiple times every trip. My son ( now 7 ) still refuses to even try it. We don't push it on this one...we have on others that we know he'll love ( BTM is his favorite but was refusing to go on 7DMT). Every kid is really so different so only you can really know. For us, we usually talk about it with them before we go ( and watch YouTube videos of rides they haven't done) but tell them to think about it and then let them decide there.

My son went on TOT at DisneyLand when he was 4 for the first time and loved the ride but was afraid of the TV pre-show. So when he asked to ride again I had to hold him during the show so he could bury his head in my shoulder and then he was good!

My next trip will be the first one my son is 40" for and he will be 4 when we go. I've already shown him a ride through of Splash Mountain and Seven Dwarves Mine Train but I don't think I'll be taking him on Tower this trip. I think it would scare him from other rides. But he does love the rides at Discovery Kingdom and can't hardly stand the excitement over getting to ride Splash so maybe I'll show him a video and let him decide.

I'll go on any ride, but ToT I have to be dragged on, since I hate it. Nevertheless, my DD7 and DD4 drag me on it EVERY time. They love it.

As for going on rides, we had a few fears over the years. I tell my kids that they should give anything a try once, and if they don't like it, they never have to do it again. I never pushed them, but I did go over the Youtube videos with them. This philosophy had my kids being much more adventurous than even my husband!

If our DDs want to try it then fine, but if they do not, then we definitely will not make them go on it just for our sake.

I'm so apprehensive about letting a young kid ride thrill rides. DD will be 3 our next trip and I'm not sure if we will let her ride Barnstormer. All the other "big" rides are out of the question, even though she will likely be tall enough to ride some.

Why are you apprehensive? I understand ToT because there is a "terror" factor. But wondering what about the other rides makes you apprehensive? DS wasn't tall enough at 3 to go on any of the "big kid" rides. He was just 40" at our trip when he was 5 (he's a little guy) so we didn't have to make that call.

I don't know, all that jostling around of her precious head makes me nervous. Yea, is realize she likely throws her head around more when she's playing and such. I'm just a giant worry wart. I totally relate to Marlin in Finding Nemo

I would make sure that he is OK with dark rides before you go on TOT. If he doesn't like TOT, he may get squirrely about other dark rides later on in the trip.

I can understand that. They can get rough. I'm delirious from hours of shoveling here in MA and that comment just made me burst out laughing with the Marlin connection! You seriously made my day. Thank you!

My 3 year old (will be 4 in March) wants to go on Tower of Terror.... would you let him? I don't want to scar him for the rest of the trip.. lol. (we did let our 5 year old thrill seeker go on it last time and she LOVED it! (went on it twice cause we switched off)

My youngest has been riding ToT since his 3rd birthday. He LOVED it. It was pretty funny because we would just ride it over and over again. He was exactly 40" so he was so tiny compared to everyone else. The scared adults / older kids took comfort in the fact that such a little guy liked it

I would just say, don't think about whether or not he'll only like that ride, but if he doesn't like it, how will it affect him riding other rides.

My convinced my son to ride test track and he decided it was too fast and it took a lont time for him to ride anything even remotely fast looking.

Like a pp said, TOT could cause the same issue with dark rides.

I'm in a pickle. I showed my just turned 5 year old a ToT POV video (with the opening movie) thinking she'd find it too scary. She now wants to go on it. I'm not sure it'd be a good idea, simply from the ruining-other-rides standpoint; I guess we'll see when we get there.

My then 3 to was very tall and she loved BTM and Splash. So we went on TT. She HATED it. Fast forward- she is 7.5 and still talks about it and refused to ride it.
