Tower of Terror 13K & 6.5K Race Website Link

I'd love to do MNSSHP again! The 26th would work out best for me. We need to keep an eye out for when sales open up, as well as when AP rates open. It really isn't that far off (191 days from today for the ToT).

I am also signed up for this event (along with DH, who has never done anything like it before) We have resssies for BWV Friday and Saturday night but are waitlisted for Thursday. if it doesn't come through, maybe we will stay at the Swan/Dolphin. I have never stayed there before .......is one preferrable to the other?

I emailed Disney about the pacing requirements - if there were any since it wasn't listed - for the ToT race. They emailed me back saying it would be a 16 minute mile requirement.

I think that will be too difficult for my 11 year old. I obviously can't sign him up for the 6.5K since no one will be able to be with him so he will be kind of upset since he won't be able to do this.

Nice and casual!! I can enjoy the race without worrying about having to go fast or get cut. It's a party isn't it:banana:

Ha, ha....that is SO relative. I should be fine, but hubby is going to have to really move his butt! I wish I knew this before I signed him up!

It is relative to me also. The 15 min pace means I have to really work to not get cut. 16 min still means I have to work but will be easier on my body. That 1 min mile really puts me at risk of injury:(

Don't mean to butt in on the sweeper talk but I am too excited to wait: I just completed registration for me (13K), DW (8K), DD (8K) and DS (8K). The only one I am worried about would be DD who is kind of a putter at track practice but DS (will be 8-years-old at race time) will not have a problem as he does 2 to 4 miles at around a 10 minute pace 3 times a week now. Me, I will be shooting to be done in less than an hour. Now I have to start the countdown and wait for the MNSSHP ticket availability.

We will definately be doing MNSSHP also. If Friday night is when everyone wants to go, that's fine. I would also prefer a week night (less busy). I am thinking though that not many of us will be there mid-week. I'd rather see my WISH buddies!

I didn't know if I should start a new thread for this or not. So, here goes.

The DW and I are planning to do Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on thd 26th, and I was thinking about getting dinner reservations at the Liberty Tree Tavern around 1700 hours that day.

If you would like to join us let me know. I'll make the ADR later this month.

Does anyone know if there's a maximum number of diners allowed for an ADR, or does it depend on the restaurant?

Sounds like a hoot, count us in Vic.

Dave:)

Jeanne-- Since there now seems to be a 16 minute mile pace, I guess I will sign Norm up for the 6.5K as he won't be able to keep that pace. I still plan to do the 13K. If everyone starts together which someone said they thought they might, maybe John can just follow the 6.5K route if that is allowed.

Since this is a night race and the party goes till 1am, am I correct in assuming all the buses to the resorts will run that late. We are extending our vacation to do this race as we were orginally leaving on Friday so need to find a hotel to stay at. We are DVC members but don't want to spend the extra points to stay another weekend.

I wouldn't assume that as other races at Disney(RFTT & Minnie) doesn't offer transportation to the start of the race so I wouldn't expect it at the finish of ToT. I would check with them first. Running busses until 1:00 for a small group might not happen.

Nancy - I would just take a cab, if the buses aren't running. It usually isn't that expensive. We've been known to do that on occassion when the bus lines are crazy-long. Well worth the $10 (or whatever it is - ask first though)! Also, there is going to be a ton of WISHers there - some with cars. Maybe some kind WISHer will drive you back to your resort.

I will ask Chad about LTT on Friday night. Sounds good to me, but don't want to say yes without checking in with the hubby first. I hope you guys don't mind a 4 year old! pirate:

When they have the after marathon party at pleasure island there are busses running to take people back to their resorts, we partied in 2005 till 3 am walked out (staggered out, hobbled what ever our method of motion could be called) and a buss was there waiting, we got right home to the Boardwalk.

I think they pretty much have to have busses running or they would have a few thousand people wandering around the park trying to get back. Then that thing that comes out of the swamp would get several of them.

That would be a mess. I mean think about it would you want all those wish warriors wandering around without adult supervision?

Well, in grand Disney style I have conflicting reports. My email said a 16 min per mile pace. I called the phone number listed to confirm and was told a 15 min per mile pace for the 13K.

Also for the 6.5K he said that there is also at 15 minute per mile pace BUT they are giving them a little extra time since it will go along the same route and starts at the same time. The 6.5K participants have until the 13K people finish to complete the race.

They also will have check points to maintain. I forgot to ask how they would know if you are a 13K or 6.5K when coming to the checkpoints?

I called 407-938-3398 if anyone is interested.

So there you have it, looks like it is a 15 min per mile pace for both races.

I have found out from Disney(via email) that there will be ONLY ONE medal for the race. That means 6.5K and 13K get the same medals.

Also, they said no course map until "sometime in Summer" as they have to "tweak it a little":confused3

Will keep you up on the updates:thumbsup2

I figured it'd be one medal b/c of the wording they used when stating that there would be a medal.
Now we just have to hope it's not cheesy plastic AND says inaugural on it somewhere (doubtful).
Still going to be great fun!!:thumbsup2
Jodi
