Tower of Terror 10 Miler 2014

OMG that sounds like what I have to deal with.
I can't wait to run in 50-60 degree weather in December, January, & February!

I am 2 1/2 hours south of Disney and I tell everyone that our seasons are 11 months of summer, a couple of weeks of fall, and maybe a week of cool temps. I wish we had a few months of cooler temps.

I'm so excited! I finally got confirmation from my boss that I can have Friday Oct 3rd off of work which means we can fly Thursday night and go to MNSSHP Friday! Now I really need to get on the ball with my costume for MNSSHP and my race costume for the run. Is anyone else going to MNSSHP the same night?

Me! I have my costume planned but not made for ToT (my sister and I are going to be Anastasia and drizella!) but I'm not sure what I'm going to wear for the party...not feeling as ambitious for that so I may try disneybounding or just getting a Halloween shirt

Here  I am still deciding on a costume. I have a jasmine top, but not pants that match it (I prefer the minty blue colored Jasmine costume, so I have a minty perfectly cut top, but my costume pants are very blue). And my hair is red right now so I thought Ariel, but then trying to piece it together is hard while keeping it family friendly but also true to character. First world problems right!

:wave2: My hair is red right now, too! Which works for my ToT costume, but not my MNSSHP one so much :rotfl:

Anastasia and Drizella is going to be so awesome! I'm doing Kim Possible. It's easy and I have the red hair already! For MNSSHP I'm going as Wendy. I don't want to get a wig because they're so hot and I already have a ton of hair, so I'm just going to be a red-headed Wendy and make it work pixiedust:

Kim Possible is an AWESOME idea! I love it! :thumbsup2

Does anyone know how many corrals there will be and how much time between the start of each corral? Thanks!

Also, has a photo of the t-shirt been posted somewhere yet?

I am still on the fence about signing up my kids for the Mickey Mile. I think it would be fun for them, however this is my first big/long running event am not used to running at night. Maybe I would be better off just sleeping in and enjoying a resort day with the kids or taking in the Halloween events at Seaworld (we have annual passes).

Omgosh I love that! One of these days I'm going to find a guy I can wrangle into a Prince Eric costume. If I hadn't decided to run as Kim Possible I was going to run as Prince Eric!

6 week mark guys! :cheer2:

That's awesome. As I type this it is 8:33 pm est. Exactly 6 weeks from now we will be getting ready to get into our corrals. I am nervous and excited.

I have been struggling with my training lately and 10 miles has been a stumbling block for me lately. I decided yesterday to recommit and refocus. Today was my long run day and I finally did my 10 miles, 10.60 to be exact. I am excited. I know I will be fine for the ToT race but I'm nervous for my marathon just 2 weeks after the ToT. I need to add 2 miles a week to my long runs to be ready.

Which marathon are you doing? I am also running a marathon 2 weeks after TOT--the Baltimore Running Festival :)

Ok. I have a question for all you smart TOT runners! My original plans had me arriving on Friday 10-3 but plane tickets for that day for some unknown reason (all week actually) so it's cheaper to fly out and arrive the day before on Thursday 10-2. I can get cheaper flights, book a room and still have money left over. My original reservation has the free meal plan included and I've called to add one day and come in the day before but the meal plan in unaviable for that day. So I would have to book one night on a separate reservation and then my original package would start on Friday. I've called 4 different times but same answer. Anyone know of any ways or have any ideas on ways to get the free dining plan on that one extra day??? Thanks!!
The only way to get free dining was to book under a PIN or during the booking window. That period has now ended, so unfortunately you can't add it. Even if it were still within the booking window that particular date may have been excluded or your resort may have sold out of rooms for the free dining promo. I would just eat 2 quick service meals and order the free ice water your first day. Maybe you can pack some non-perishable snacks in your luggage too. You should be able to eat for less than $10/person/meal if you do it that way.

I am doing the Baystate Marathon in Lowell, MA. They say it is the 4th fastest marathon in the country because it is so flat so I am happy about no hills.

We won't know for sure until they release that info, which should be a couple weeks before the race. You can see last year's info at http://runningatdisney.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/TOT13_FRI-page-0.jpg - on the far right side.

In the 2014 race program, they have A-J marked. (page 19)
I know everything's subject to change, but hopefully it's a good indicator.
No idea on the times though, EEC was 6 minutes between each, but that's such a short race.

I just want a picture of the shirt and gear, and my bib number. Then this will feel very, very real.

Me too! It still doesn't feel like it's happening even though it's 39 days away. :scared: I do wish stitch was on the medal ribbon. Maybe he'll be on the tshirts!

I'm freaking out because the most I've run so far is 7 miles and my stomach has now decided to revolt and start flaring up making me feel like I've been hit with a bus. Hoping this clears up quick. It did for the princess last year,... But I hope I have enough time to do 10 a few times before the race :(

I have also only done 7 so far - and I have only run maybe 3-4 times in the last 3 weeks! It was a combo of a vaca trip, a break up, some events, and new shoes to break in. But I am feeling sluggish here! So now I am starting again at 5 miles and adding a mile a week until the week before the race when I will rest with shorter runs. But what I am doing is only going to 8 or 9 miles in preparation, with adrenalin for the last mile. The training plans I have seen are split between going up to 13 miles and stopping at 8. But knowing the heat issue with this race, I am just using it for the experience and getting a better corral at the princess half in Feb. so I am not too, too worried about my time.

I am trying to figure out what to wear with the heat...I have a pair of "ultimate yoga" leggings from victorias secret's line that are a black and white space print. They are basically the same material as my running capris. I was going to just wear shorts, but the space print just reminds me so much of the twilight zone! I might just pair those with maybe a red or green sports bra or something...to match the medal, of course :rotfl:

So not ready for this race. Seems like every year I have issues training. At least I know if I can work up to 6 I can do the 10. Being sick and then a summer full of vacations hasn't helped. Must kick it into gear this week.

Oh yeah it's definitely warmer where you are in the "winter" time:)

I can deal with running in 75 degree heat it's the humidity that slows me down. The temperatures can fluctuate so much here but anything we encounter in February is better than right now for sure.:thumbsup2

Sounds like me. Between some of the issues going on with the future ex, a family vacation, and some other stuff I have felt sluggish as well. It is the perfect word to describe what I have been feeling lately. It's like I am running in quicksand.

Sorry to hear about your break up.

I am still sore from my long run on Saturday. I SO BADLY didn't want to run today but I went out and ran anyway. I only did 3.68 miles (according to Runkeeper) but I got out there. I have decided I will fight through this period of low motivation because I want to be ready for this race and as ready as I can be for the heat and humidity. My legs were killing me from the run today.

I also use this thread as a motivator. I know others on here are getting ready. I know I need to come on here and post how I am doing with my training so it holds me accountable.

So, for those of us struggling right now, just get out there and fight through it. The last thing you want is to regret not putting in the effort.
