Towels at Pop

For anyone who has stayed recently at Pop, how are the towels there? When we stayed there last September, the towels were ripped, thread bare and had holes in them and the sides were shredded. This was not just one or two towels, but the majority of them. We complained but the replacement towels they delivered were not much better. We had 8 rooms at Pop last September and all of us had the same problem. For some of our group, it was the first time they were visiting, so we were a little embarrassed to say the least. I couldn't believe that Disney would allow towels in such poor condition in their resort. :sad2:

Because of this, 2nd DD and family refuses to stay at POP or any value this coming September and wants to move up to a moderate. So does DS and family but am not sure if he can afford it. 1st DD can't afford to move up and will have to stay at POP. This is going to split us up, and now I will have to choose between them as to which resort to stay at. :confused3

Anyways I was just wondering if the towels have improved since last year.

TIA

We stayed at Pop last Aug. 07 and had no problems with any of the towels in either of our rooms.:confused3 :confused3

The towels were of poor quality and were in poor condition when we stayed at All Star Sports.

Sorry, we ripped them up during our August stay. ;)

Seriously, we had no problems with the towels.

I just stayed at ASSports this past weekend and our towels seemed almost new.

We've never had any problems with the towels at Pop Century either! I can say that they are not as plush/thick as the towels at the deluxe resorts (we've stayed at GF, WL, Boardwalk, etc), but we've stayed at Pop Century many times and the towels we've had were all in good condition.

We were just there this past Dec. We had 2 rooms and the towels in both rooms seemed new. They were full and completely in tact - there were no bare spots, frays, pulls, or anything. They were absorbent and even soft. IMO they were much better than the towels at ASMusic in 2006.

We've stayed there before too, but this is the first time we've seen towels that were in such poor condition at Disney in all of our stays. I know they aren't as plush as moderates or deluxes, but I would expect that they wouldn't have holes in them or be thread bare. It was that way for the 11 days that we were there. Maybe our maid wasn't attentive to what she was putting in the room and either didn't notice they were torn or didn't care.

It does sound like they've gotten some new towels, so maybe they've corrected the problem. Don't get me wrong, we like Pop and were happy with the resort other than the towels.

According to Disney, we have visited the World 51 times coming up on our 52nd in a week. Needless to say, we have stayed at POP atleast 10 times, we have never had a problem with our towels, and even if I did, for $82 a night I would live with it. We are also DVC members and we have stayed at numerous resorts on property, and have had no problems at all with any of the towels.:confused3

Are you saying then that I should be happy with whatever they give me because I'm only paying $82 night? At what rate do you think I should be able to complain...$150 a night, $200 a night? Disney has value accommodations at a value price. As a paying guest, I expect a clean room with the amenities that they promised, including decent towels even at the values. I don't expect large, plush towels but I do expect towels in good condition. That being said I did live with it for 11 days. I called once for some decent towels, but gave up when the ones they delivered weren't much better.

I have gone to Disney 24 times and have stayed at moderates and deluxes as well as values, and I've never seen towels like this before either. But the fact of the matter is they were in terrible condition, and I was very embarrassed for some of the guests in our Grand Gathering who were there on their 1st visit. We had 33 people there with 10 rooms staying at Pop, the Contemporary, and the Poly, so I think I brought in some money to Disney to have some rights here.

Thanks to all that replied. It seems our experience was an isolated incident and that they've taken care of the problem. I think we will be fine if we decide to keep our ressie at Pop for next Sept. ;)

I Think You Read Into That A Little Too Seriously!!!!!!!!!!!! If It Really Seemed To Be A Problem, Than Maybe You Should Have Taken The Towels To The Front Desk And Showed Them The Experience You Were Having, Instead Of Allowing It To Go On For 10 Days.

I've had bad towels, sheets and bed spreads at a few Disney hotels but didn't take time to complain about it on my vacation. Maybe I should have, but really, they should have better quality control systems in place

Momto8, you must have had a batch of towels due to be replaced during your visit because decent towels are the rule not the exception at Pop.

I don't care if the OP paid $82 a night. Towels with holes and big stains  is unacceptable IMO. We are staying at Pop for 3 nights in March. I don't expect luxurious deluxe resort towlels like we get at the Poly. I don't care if their cheap walmart towels but if they have huge holes and stains they will be brought to the front desk. It seems most people have not had this experience, so I won't even worry about it.

We were there in Aug of 07 and the towels were brand new. So new they had a new smell and were a little rough. But I can see how they would get ratty fast. They are very thin.

Sorry you had a bad experience with the towels. If you stay there again and have trouble with the towels I would ask for new ones. If the new one are the same maybe call the manager.

Good Luck

Yeah, I guess I did read too much into it! LOL! I didn't take the towels to the front desk, because I didn't want to come off as a complainer. I called them once to get better towels, and while the towels they brought were a little better, they were still threadbare for the most part the entire week. I also had to call to get our TV fixed, because it went off while we were watching it. They came while we were at the parks and supposedly fixed it. When we got back that evening, it went off again while we were watching it. That is when I requested another TV. They brought us a new one and it was fine for the rest of our stay. That's why I didn't make a big deal out of the towels. I felt like if I did, I would get a reputation of being a complainer. Don't get me wrong, I was polite about it and it really was not big problem because they fixed the problem with the TV right away. But maybe I would have gotten better results if I did go to the front desk with the towels, but that never occurred to me at the time. I just called housekeeping.

Momto8.....:rotfl2: I was not saying you were not intitled to complain, it's just that were all go to disney to have FUN!!!!!!!!!!! We are supposed to leave all nonsense at home, forget our worries and troubles, go with the flow and have fun. At least that is what we try to do. Not always easy, but we try. Hey....if I have shredded towels I would freak to say the least. Just don't ruin your trip by getting yourself all fussed up and ruin it over towels. We are actually leaving on 2/11 for a week at the POP, I just hope we don't run into any of the towels you left behind:lmao: . I will let you know how it goes when we get home.:wizard:

Despite the towels, we didn't let it didn't spoil our trip. ;) It's just that 2nd DD doesn't want to stay there now and the towels are one of the reasons. 1st DD does want to stay there because of the cost, so we are torn.

Lucky you that you get to go so soon. :cool1: We have to wait until Sept! You don't want to get the towels we left behind though. I won't tell you what my DH did when he found one with a hole. He made sure the maid knew they couldn't be used again. :rotfl:

Let me know how it goes with the towels, but I'm sure you will be fine. It sounds like we just got a bad batch that week.

Enjoy your trip!
