I returned from a wonderful vacation on 9/20. we had a mousekeeper who made towel animals that were so cute. I just went into my daughter's who is 19 room and I just wanted to cry. She took them all apart. I guess she saw the look of disappointment on my face and said' Mom they are only washclothes and towels" Is it only me, or what, but they are special and I like to keep them as souveniers of a great trip. I am just venting, but I feel that a little piece of my trip was just thrown away. thanks for listening..

that is a 19 yo for ya so sorry hope you can put them back together.

Your teenager could be my mother-in-law. We went on a Disney cruise and got a towel animal every day and so did they. My husband and I loved the animals and took pictures of each one. Then we left it out for the steward to do whatever to it the next day. My mother-in-law freaked out. She didn't want the animals at all. She wanted to take each one apart so that she would be sure the towels and washclothes would be reused! :rotfl2: We had to reassure her that unless she wanted to take one with her, everything would be reused but to take it apart would kind of be an insult to the steward. She hadn't thought about it that way.

It's kind of like your 19 year old coming home with a lumpy homemade ashtray from summer camp and having you just toss it in the drawer while she's standing there. But your daughter didn't see it like that. As it was said before, she's 19.

We just returned last week from 9 nights at the WL, and our mousekeeper left us animals almost every night. We're late 50's and wife was crazy over them, we only had a couple in all our other stays, past was our 39th trip, and they all came home and have a special place with all our Disney collectibles we seem to accummulate each trip, a shame to take them apart, for what a 50 cent face towel. Kids have a different view of life, they live for the monment and we old adults live for the memories. Seeing the towel animal reminds us of the vacation but to teenagers its something to wash with, go figure.

Disney doesn't mind that you bring those home. We have never had one, but if we do when we go next year I will want to bring it/them home. Is that okay?:confused3

You stole the towels? We don't take the animals apart when we get them, but we would never steal the towels.

We had towel animals everyday and our mousekeeper even taught the kids how to make a mouse. She told us we could bring them home and we did.

On a stay at CSR in 2006, we had a mousekeeper who made wonderful towel animals. I left a note indicating how much I was enjoying the creations, and got a personal invite by the mousekeeping manager to learn to make several designs. It was a "magical moment" and she was very excited for me to show family at home what I'd made...

I remember looking at her and saying that would be stealing - but she insisted taking ALL the towel animals home for future enjoyment was very much permitted!

In fact, I ended up getting a magical moment certificate, a photo taken, and an email when I got home to ensure I did not forget "how to make the animals!". :thumbsup2

At the Beach Club, they have a "towel animal station" set up in the lobby everyday with mousekeepers who show the kids how to make the animals, & then let them take them for keeps. We brought home a half-dozen from them this summer.

You're kidding! I did not know we could take them home...we had a cute octopus and an elephant that wrapped around the faucet! We did not touch or take them apart.....

There have been other DISers who wrote to Disney and asked about the towel animals and were told they should not take them home, but enjoy that while they were staying there.

My sister and I were told it was expected that we would, one fell apart they are old/worn facecloths & hand towels.

From what I have heard they are made out of the older towels and you are allowed to take them home. I sure hope that info. was right because if I get lucky enough to get one on my next trip I am so hoping to take it home.

Just stayed at CSR and didn't see one towel animal in our room :sad2: . My Mom's room though, did get them. I guess it just depends on your mousekeeper...

I was told by our mousekeeper that we were allowed to bring the towel animals home with us as a souvenier. During both of our CBR stays, we received six towel animals. If you have little ones (or young ones at heart) in your group, you can leave a note for mousekeeping and they'll make a towel animal for you.

In the last month we have stayed at Allstar Movies, POR and Saratoga and not 1 towel animal:sad1: :sad1: :sad2: .

Next time I get one, I may just keep it and have my own towel animals in the room :rolleyes1

We stayed at Saratoga and only got 1 towel animal.

We stayed at All Star Sports and only got 1 towel animal.

I guess it does depend on the mood of the mousekeeper.

We stayed at the Poly and had cute things done with stuffed animals and had a towel animal one day - but on our check out day our Mousekeeper brought by souvies for my DS and DD. She must make them at home. DS received a blue car (like Lightening McQueen) it has eyes and wheels made from fabric glued on. My DD received a princess castle with turrets and everything. They were great!

We stayed at ASMU and received 1 dog towel animal and a large number of washclothes put together to form a Mickey Head was one the bed when we checked in. At Saratoga Springs we had two bunnies. My DD 13 was so happy...she would never take them apart. I had read that it was ok to take them home. We took the three smaller ones and I have them on display in my bathroom at home. Reminds me of Disney everyday.
