Towel Animals... do you keep them or leave them behind?

  • I/we have never received a towel animal while staying at a Disney Resort.

  • I/we like them, and we take (or have taken) at least one home with us!

  • I/we like them, and we always take every one home with us!

  • I/we have received them while staying at a Disney Resort, but we have never taken one home with us.

I think we have taken 2 of the 10 or so we recieved. I let my son pick one each trip and leave the rest. I have to laugh I just saw a show on the travel channel and one of the families in the show had towel animals on their shelf at home. So I am guessing most people take one or two.

We have only had a handful, but we love them. We have never taken them home, I would just feel awkward taking them.

My boys actually made one in the lobby of the WL last April, so of course we brought that one home. We've also taken other ones with us. They're on my dresser, but I think some day they'll just get taken apart.

I have often thought about bringing one home.....but for what? What would I do with it, where would I put it????? Much better for me just to leave it for someone else to enjoy.

This last trip, our housekeeper put a new animal in our room everyday, by the end we had quite a little collection! :goodvibes

I don't want those creepy little things in my house... I leave them where they belong!!! hahaha... dontcha think they're a little freakish???

Here are 2 from our POFQ stay last April. I think we took 1 & left one:

Aww they are cute,I have yet to get one at Disney but I have gotten them on the cruise. The penguin is cute.

I can see how some of them are freakish looking lol.The eye stickers kind of are lol. I like the ones in the picture though.I think they are cute lol.

One trip, we got a towel animal every day(at POR) and I only took one home. It was a little mouse and it was so cute! He sits on my computer desk at home.

We took one home. It was an angel, and we put her on top of our Christmas tree. :goodvibes

I've never even thought about bringing any home. The ones I've had were made out of perfectly good towels, and wouldn't seem any different to me than just taking the towels off the rack and sticking them in my suitcase. I know there are some people out there who wouldn't think twice about doing that either.

If you really like towel animals, there are books out there on how to make them yourself. I would get the book and some great colored towels, and make your own!

Our mousekeeper told me that they are made of towels/washcloths that are being discarded because of wear or damage and said they were ours to keep.

I've taken some towel animals with permission from mousekeeping. It doesn't mean I'm a klepto who is stealing all the towels off the rack, as well.

Dh and I received one on our anniversary trip. That was the first (and only) TA we've ever gotten. We brought it home to DD (then five). It sits on her dresser. :)

We have gotten TA the past couple trips. We brought home 2. One was a lady bunny with all sorts of stickers on her dress and a little duck. They are sitting on the hutch with the other souvies!

It would never have occured to me to take it home, so I'm glad for this post. If we get one on the September trip, I'll know it's okay if the kids want to keep it. ('cause goodness knows we can use more stuff in our hosue! HA!)

We got two this Feb. (small ones) and took them both. They now sit on a shelf above a towel hanger in our bathroom (with TOT embroidered towels hanging from the towel rack!). :cool1:

I have about 6 of the little darlings in my Disney room. I have asked many housekeepers and been told every single time that they are the guests to keep and take home. If my TA is too large, I leave it behind.

We were told that they were gifts and that we were welcome to take them home with us. So we've taken them all home, except for the ones that were too big or that were not really manageable, such as the tri-circle Mickey or the 6 foot tall towel "man" that was laying on our bed last trip.

Most of the towel animals we've taken home have ended up with our grand-nieces, but we do still have a few.

We always take pictures of them, but Never Never take them. That just seems like stealing to me.

I took one home, I saw her making them. I went in to look and she gave me one. I told her I was on my way home, I had my suitcase in hand, she said take it. So I did, it was a magical way to end my trip.

We have two, and both are displayed on my Mickey shelf in my Mickey painted bathroom. :earsgirl:
