I can see this issue from both ways. For the record, I have never had a towel animal, but we have been delighted to have little arrangements of our stuffed animals (using the remote, etc.). Very cute. Kids very pleased.
My question is (as a couple of posters have alluded to) what REALLY does happen to them if you don't take them? If they can be dismantled easily and washed with reintroduction into the general towel supply, that seems great. No waste. Or do they get passed on to other customers...not cleaned. EEEWWWW! As cute as they are, I don't think I would want my child all snuggled up with a towel animal that had been snuggled up by some other kid yesterday. I realize the animals are a little fragile, but that won't stop a child from holding it close.
So, particularly for the ones that are glued, maybe there is a decent hygiene reason to just take it away? Again, I can see merit in both arguments. For me, I think I will take pictures, and will seriously consider not letting a kid cozy up to it too closely just in case.
