towel animals - keep or leave??

We could have taken them??!?!?!?!? EDIT: Ok, I see different answers people got from staff.... take or not take... oh well, at least I got pictures.

I had 3 made..they were so cute.

:(

I shouldnt read these boards.. now I'm sad again!

We've never gotten any, but I'll definitely be using my best judgement if we get one this trip . . . if there's no doubt that it could never be used as a towel again, such as glue or adhered glitter, I'm definitely asking about taking it home and won't hesitate to do so if told it's okay.

oops... I didn't even think about whether or not it was ok to take ours home. I did- they were ones with star stickers. I really don't think it matters, as I doubt the mousekeepers would take off all the stickers and rubber bands to wash the towels again for reuse. Plus, it's a towel. Disney knows that these things are incredibly cool and most likely will be taken home as souvenirs. If they didn't want us to take them home, they wouldn't make them. It's like giving candy to a child and then taking it away. :thumbsup2

I haven't got any towel animals yet . . . .but I would have to say, that I would take lots of photos, and then just leave them behind. JMO.

It never even crossed my mind to take the towel animals home with us. I just assumed that they were hotel property. Honestly I am surprised to hear that people take them!

No it's not stealing we asked management at pop century and they told us that they are gifts. How could they reuse a towel with glue on it anyways?

Exactly! I think it's rude and uncalled for for anyone to describe it as stealing.

I always told me children that if we took them home, then the next family wouldn't be able to enjoy them. The same as I tell them regarding other room decorations.

We had our 'mousekeeper' wait for us one day to personally hand each of my girls a doll she made. I don't think it is stealing if it is handed directly to a child, and the child is told 'here this is for a lovely princess, have a magical day'.....the others we left.......but everyone has their own opinions....

Someone will always regard this as stealing....unless it is put in writing when they check in and even then......

We had towel animals almost every night at WL....the housekeeper left a note stating they were ours to take home. If I didn't have DD5 with us I would have left them, but she was thrilled to take them home and they now reside on her bed.

Definitely not "stealing" if staff tells you to take them.

On our last trip our Mousekeeper had just been moved from Riverside to Contempory and was upset that they had moved her over so quickly that she didn't even have her towels for towel animals. So I though the towel animals were made from different towels than those in our room. We did take our since our mousekeeper told the boys to, but saying that now that we have towel animals at home what do you do with them :confused3

Last year our mousekeeper @ POP made us two little animals and told us we could take them home but I left them. This year we got a big frog and although I didn't see who made it, I did take it home.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

When we stayed at WL during christmas the housekeeper made a Tree and animals to go with it and she stated to my wife "This is yours to take home" In the past we have left others there untill this time.

We left the towel animals in the room. I guess I never thought about it! But, if the staff tells you to keep them, why not! :thumbsup2

It has never crossed my mind to take the towel animals home. Towels are hotel property whether folded into the shape of an animal or not. And glue and glitter does wash off in the laundry process, I would think. However, since so many on this board have been invited by CM's to take them home, obviously Disney doesn't have a problem with this. I think I'll continue to leave mine at the resort however, don't need any more clutter at home!

I just want to get one - take it home or not. 18 nights in the world with kids and no animals of anykind. There was a washcloth wrapped around a cup with a sticker on it and another one folded in the cup like a fan but they were from our regular cloths not even extras above our daily alotment.

Would you take the towels on the towel rack?? No, becasue it's stealing.. Same thing here, it'a a towel not a souviner!

Your not supposed to take the towels on the rack home? Oh....oops.

:rotfl: j/k ;)

We had never gotten any until this trip.

They came home with us and are looking good on the shelf under the Coranado Springs Resort wall art and lit by the Saratoga Springs Resort wall lamp (man that was hard to unscrew). Now if I can just figure out how to put this sofa bed back together....
