Towel animal question

I've seen pictures of the really cute towel animals and I've noticed that they seem to be in the more expensive categories. Does anyone know if the room stewarts for the cheap seats know how to do the towel animals? I'll be so disappointed if I don't get any. My DH thinks I'm crazy [nothing new there] that I'm so looking forward to these towel animals that he felt it necessary to point out that they may not be in all cabins.

Any thoughts anyone ?

On our 9/7/02 Magic cruise, we were in a Catagory 9, 2nd deck, and had towel animals each night! I took pictures of each one, as well. Our table mates in inside staterooms also commented on their towel animals! So, no fear, you will get dogs, aardvarks, crabs, monkeys, etc.

Don't forget the fun napkin folds you get at dinner each night. We had tuxedo's, hats, and even Peter Pan's shoe!

We've been on three seven day cruises two in"the cheap seats" and our last was a cat. 6. We've had towel animals every night, although I've heard sometimes you need to request them if you don't see them the first night. I don't think you'll have a problem, the stewards are very accomidating as long as you let them know what you need! Good Luck and happy cruising!!!

On our recent Wonder cruise, our room steward (Thongchai) showed our DS how to make 2 of them. On the last night he gave DS a certificate showing that he had learned how to make them and even gave him what looks like pages from a training manual on how to make them. We were in a Cat 3, so "your mileage may vary".

On our 7day last December, I guess we had a new cabin steward who didnt as yet know how to make the animals. Since this is always a highlight of the cruise for my DS, we called guest services, who arranged for us to have them every night!!

We also sailed in a Cat 9 on Deck 2 and never had a towel animal. I don't believe all the CM know how to make them.

So, the answer is, it really depends on your room steward. My best advice is to not get too hopeful about having them. If you get them, then it's a nice surprise. If you don't, you won't be too overly disappointed.

We were in a category 11, and we had a variety of animals each night. It was like our own little terry-cloth petting zoo! :jester:

We always sail category 11 and have gotten towel animals most of the time.
We got a towel heart for our anniversary last year. And, yes, I took pictures of all of them, even the ones we couldn't figure out.

This is not limited to the more expensive categories...we've had them in every stateroom from Cat. 11 on up! My favorites are the cobra and peacock. I have some photos on my website and hubby with probably be updating them with some more from our three-peat.

I think that it depends on the Room Host or Hostess. During our last cruise, We got 1 in our room during our 7 night cruise. Our room hostess was just HORRID with my kids, yet I saw her in a completely different light with the small children down the hall. We tried talking with her and being friendly and just had no luck.

But, things got completely awful when a fellow dis member brought down a monkey to my stateroom to share with my kids. My hostess turned completely ugly when she saw them coming with it down the hall. She acted like we weren't worthy of the little critters. The fellow dis'er was mortified by the look this woman gave her and continued to give her as they left.

So, NO not all CM's leave them. I think the really good ones do. But, don't set yourself up for disappointment. I wouldn't expect them.

Oh, my, Patty! What did that woman have against you and your kids??? I guess she didn't get any extra tip from you, if she got any at all. That seems inexcusable! I got towel animals every night, sometimes two in one night, and I was solo!

Things were not going well with her though..........

It started the very first night. She knocked on the door to deliver a TUX that wasn't ours. DH and DS had just stepped out on the balcony and the door to the balcony was open when I opened the door to the stateroom, causing that WIND TUNNEL effect. SHE just had a FIT.... and proceeded to tell me about the sign that said the balcony door was to be kept closed. She wouldn't talk to me, she would only talk to DH because supposedly it was his TUX.......(not) so then they had to open the door again so he could come in and he was waiting for DS to come in and then both doors were open and she was JUST FURIOUS.
I wasn't concerned about the towel animals.....but, would have appreciated her at least being CIVIL, which she was NOT. She got a tip....... about 3/4 of normal. She did keep the room clean. There were just no extras involved.

Wow, Patty! I think you were generous! Keeping the room clean or not, her behavior was out of line. For me the towel animals would have added to the issue, after discovering that she was making them for others. Otherwise, if it was a matter of her not yet knowing how, it would be okay. But it is her JOB to be CIVIL, to try to keep guests HAPPY, not simply to clean the room. I would say maybe she was having a "bad day," which everyone has now and then, but since it was a 7-day cruise and her attitude did not improve, that's no excuse either.

thanks for all the posts. I'll try not to get my hopes up too high but if I don't see any the first night I may make my own silly attempt and leave it out to be found and maybe someone will respond.

And fancy folded napkins at dinner too, this is too much to anticipate. It's these tiny little things that make the Disney trips so much more special though. I wish I could live at Disney all the time.

Anxiously awaiting a trip report on the threepeat though.
