Towel Animal Question (No Flames Please)

Towl animals are like lots of other things at Disney. It is magic if you get one. It doesn't have anything to do with tipping.

The manager of the Poly and the super of mousekeeping both told me I could keep them! I only took the lifesize monkey. I left the others behind because they wouldn't fit in my suitcase! LOL!

And do you make towel bananas for him, or do you starve the poor thing?

Just my experience. We've always recieved towel animals (and yes, I still can't see the big deal in them *shrug* oh well) and we've never taken any home.

However...on our last trip, the maid "personally" handed my toddler a little towel mouse, to which he immediately became attached to. He slept with it at night...go figure! lol And when it was time to go, he insisted on packing it.

Okay, I gotta tell you...I did feel lots of guilt for taking it with us, but the guilt was soon replaced by a sense of relief after realizing that the towel animal would help us out on the plane ride if he got fussy. Maybe *that's* the big deal with towel animals? ;)

My DD tried to hide the towel animals. She woudl tuck them into bed with her! Aww how sweet!

But be sure to take a photo of it when you get one. That way it will last forever!

I have gotten a few towel animals over the years. I would never have thought to take it home, and I still won't, but I really do appreciate them.
I vacation solo, and I don't have any children. My DH just does not like to vacation - anywhere - so I still have a lot of fun on my annual December solo vacation. One night I was coming back to my room, alone, at POR. I was so tired, I probably over did my walking. I was so tired, I was bordering on feeling depressed. My lower back hurt, too. As soon as I opened my door, I saw the cutest towel rabbit, sitting on a pillow, in the center of the bed, with a "spot light" on it. I swear it cheered me up right away !! The rabbit was holding the remote. Really cute !

seriously, what is the big deal with the towel animals? Between Croc's shoes, towel animals and refillable mugs- there's no room left around here for anything else!

:earboy2:
:rotfl2:
That's why you bring an empty suitcase.

We received two small adorable towel animals at WL. One was a rabbit and one a mouse. And yes, we took them home. They were made from facecloths.I keep them on a bookcase shelf with other Disney trinkets. And I felt no guilt :cool1: whatsoever about taking them.

I have one small mouse towel animal from our last trip...he is so cute...
I put him in a square lucite box (I think it was designed for softballs) that i got at the container store.... He sits on a shelf in our bathroom and always reminds me of the great time we have had at WDW..... :sunny:

Actually he has a plastic banana in his hand. LOL! When we got him home we hung him in the corner of DD's room. The maid had him hanging from a lei on the canopy at the Poly. DD thought he looked hungry and gave him a banana~

Thanks for all the wonderful responses...I now know a lot more about the animals and what to do with them if they do suddenly appear in our room....

It makes me wonder if these "maids" are suppose to be cleaning the rooms but are busy making towel critters who is cleaning the rooms, or how thorough of a job are they doing? :teeth:

I read in a previous thread that they make them outside of work and have them in their carts.

We got towel animals once - at the Poly and no children were with us. It was fun to see, and I did take one home - a duck and its still on my bathroom shelf along with my other duck collectibles! LOL!

I figure they are just linens and leave them like I leave the other linens in the room. Nice to look at, but not meant to be taken. Unless the housekeepers are using their own towels from home, the towels belong to Disney, not to the housekeepers.

Our first trip we didn't even know towel animals exsisted. We had a fabulous time at WDW without the towel treats. This Spring Break, we did have towel animals (after watching the Dis I figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to let the kids bring a couple of stuffed animals). On our last day, we met our wonderful housekeeper and she said she makes the towel animals because she knows the kids come back to the rooms after busy days at the park and the animals help them feel better. I'm guessing she knew we had kids in the room and maybe their stuffed animals had something to do with it.
To me, it's cute and pleasant. To my kids it's wonderful and magical. I am planning on telling them that not every Mousekeeper has the time or talen to do what Zenia did before we get there in a couple of weeks.

We got towel animals at the Pop last year, we took one home. A mouse from a wash cloth. We did ask first and we were told they were a gift from the hotel and we were welcome to take them home.

I was the giddy recipient of several towel animals on my birthday in February. My then DBF (now ex, boo) surprised me by reserving a concierge room for the night, and he knew I had hoped to see some towel critters so he arranged to have them there for me.

There were a few on the bed (monkey, duck, bunny) and my favourite was a penquin in the bathroom.

We took photos of all of them (and the balloons!!) but left them there.

Aw. He really was a great boyfriend.

I've never gotten towel animals at WL, AKL, or BW, but last May I got six over a four night stay while I was at POP. It was obvious I was traveling solo, but every night when I returned to my room they were on the windowsill looking out. Everyone in that area had LOTS of towel animals covering their windowsills. The morning before I was to leave, I ran into the housekeeper, told her how much I appreciated them, and asked her if there was anyway I could take one home to my GD. She gave me a funny look, laughed, and said they expected us to take them. That's why they made them. She then tried to give me another one off her cart, but I refused since I was on my way to the parks. I gave my GD all six of them and she put three in her bookcase at her dad's house and three on her dresser at her mom's house.

WOW ~ We got a duck and butterfly but nothing extravagant like some got! :goodvibes It is really a talent I believe! I had wondered if you were allowed to take them or not (we ended up leaving our two). Thanks for the info!
