Where headin' down to WDW at the end of January for the sole purpose of touring the DVC resorts. We know that we can see BLT and AKV models at SSR. What about the other resorts? Will we be hassled too much if we walk around the property and check out the amenities, lobbies, corridors, etc. of the sold-out resorts? Is there any chance of a Disney-sanctioned walking tour of the sold-out resorts? We are aware that Disney's current incentives will go away prior to our visit, but the newer resorts are not as important to us due to our interest in resale contracts at BCV, VWL and maybe even SSR.

Thanks in advance,
Joe

I'd cetainly suggest taking the "official" tour at the DVC Sales Center. You are also welcome to visit any of the other resorts and explore the facilities. If you stop at the Front Desk and ask to see a villa, they are usually happy to allow this as long as they have an unoccupied and cleaned villa available. Friday - early afternoon - might be a good time to find one that has been readied for guest but not yet assigned.

Have a great trip! :)

There is also a public model room on the BoardWalk. It's down near Big River Grille. They don't do the actual sales presentation like at SSR--it's more of a "walk in and look around" setup.

I too suggest doing the official DVC tour. Just hit one of the kiosks and they will come get you in a nice van, take you to SSR to do the tour, talk to you and show you all the information, show the models (which you knew about) and answer any questions you have. If you have the idea nailed down, then there is probably not as much of a need to do the sit down / DVC tour. But if you have ANY questions, go ahead and do it, plus you get ice cream at the end of the tour :goodvibes :cool1: and sometimes some other goodies..

I'm sure they have no problems with you touring the resorts, so long as you arent causing any disturbances of course :) You can pretty much get the idea of them just by walking around the area with no problem.

We will also be taking a trip down next week for the sole purpose of touring DVC ( well, we might as well do the parks while we're there since we do have AP's). But yes, the true purpose for the trip is to make positive that this is the right move for us and get alot of the complicated questions answered. Can we just go straight to SSR? We have our own car and it's just easier and more time efficient for us to just drive straight there. I am sooo excited, DVC will be a GREAT Christmas present!

You can go straight to the sales center but I would suggest making an appointment first. They are open during normal business hours, but you may be left sitting for a while if you drop in unannounced. Many times they are able to accommodate people on-the-fly, but other times there are waits if the staff is all tied-up. At the sales center they won't just let you walk around unescorted.

If you haven't spoken to a Guide yet, I'd give them a call and at least make that initial contact. You won't get any form of the "hard sell" and they should mail you a bunch of material to review before you go down. That will help make the most of your time. Then decide which day and time works best for your tour and set it up with the Guide in advance. He/she will have everything waiting when you arrive!

We did this several years ago. Touring the completed resorts was hit and miss. Common areas are no problem, but getting to see a clean room was a challenge. The Front Desk isn't interested in taking up there time so DVD can make another sale.

BCV was the hardest to see and we never did get a look. We visited four times over two days. On the second day they told us to come back at 3:00PM. We waited for our access person until 5:00 and gave up.

Good luck
