Dining by ourselves

It’s been a few years since we’ve cruised and I’m wondering if I still need to request to have a table to ourselves in the dining room or if they’ve moved to seating parties by themselves. Thank you!

You still need to make the request if you want to increase the chances of a private table. For efficiency, DCL tends to group smaller parties together if no request is made.

My party of 4 did have our own table on our most recent cruise, but there was some sort of mixup -- on our first night, there were already 3 people at a table for 6 when we arrived. When we checked our table number with our server, the other party left, and no one else appeared.

Fortunately, you can make the request online now instead of calling DCL. At the bottom of your reservation page is a link for requests and you can select a private table there. No guarantee, of course.

A family (with linked reservations) of 9 would probably be seated at an 8 or 10 top. By themselves.

You definitely still need to ask and its hit or miss whether it happens.

On our August 2025 cruise, our request for a private table was not granted.

Once you board, make sure to check what time and where dinning requests are made. Go there and ask if your request was granted. If it wasn't there is still a chance they can do it for you. Go early as there could be others with the same request.
One sailing I had made the request but was busy and did not check to see if it was granted. When we went to dinner, the server led us to the table but half way there I realized it was a table for 8. It was going to be 4 couples. I stopped, told the server that it wasn't going to work for me,, not to worry I would just get fast food or room service. He told us to hold up and he took us to the head waiter who gave us a private table at that point. We were very lucky with that and I never forgot to check again.
