Touring Resorts Question

I have intentionally left a free day in our scedule to stay at the resort, let the kids swim, do laundry , rest, that sort of thing.

We are also wanting to see some of the other resorts that day. I have no intention of trying to swim at the other resorts, so please do NOT think that. What I would like to know is what resorts are neat to go see if you are not staying at them? And what is there to do? I will already be seeing Wilderness Lodge when we eat at WCC, I am looking forward to seeing the gyser; AKL when we eat at Boma (Will we get to see the savanah with the construction going on? ; and CR when we eat at Chef Mickey's. So what other resorts do you all suggest and why. Thanks!


ETA: Ment to say that I am planning on going to the Boardwalk for some shopping, and to All Stars Movies, so my kids can see the bigger than life characters.

I love to visit the other resorts. I would do ice cream at beach club. I like to walk around CSR , my kids find it an interesting place. We have walked around the Poly and shopped and enjoyed a dole whip, then catch the monorail and visit the GF. We just enjoy looking at all the different features the different resorts offer. I could just spend several days visiting. I think you will enjoy it.

I love to take the time to see the resorts on the monorail line....it is so easy and all of them are just beautiful.

Sometimes parking at the Monorail Resorts if you're just going to look around might be hard to do, if you're not staying there or don't have ADR's. I can tell you that when I was at the Contemporary earlier this month I happen to be looking outside and at the guard shack, I noticed over a couple days a lot of cars were not allowed to park. That usually happens around the major holidays and when the Contemporary hosts a major convention. During my stay there was a huge Gospel singing group which took up a lot of rooms and parking spaces, so I would assume the cars who were being turned were not guests staying at the Contemporary and did not have any ADR's.

As for you're question my suggestion is try parking at the Polynesian or Grand Floridian, however on some days they might also be hard when it comes to parking the way the Contemporary can be. Although I would think they are a bit easier.

Park at the TTC, and hop on the resort monorail. That would be the thing that Disney would want you to do. Parking at a resort, with no dining plans, is not a terrific idea. I know that those who stay at the CR yell and scream when non-guests park there. I can only imagine that those staying at the Polynesian and GF would feel the same. Fair is fair. Or, you could just take your resort bus to the MK and then walk over to the CR and check it, then hop on the monorail to see the other two. Don't forget to take the boat to WL and FtW...lots of stuff to do at FtW.
Then, I like to head to MGM and walk to BW and the other resorts in that area. It's fun to stop by the different shops and see what they have to offer that is resort specific. Then I like to check out the S/D, just to make the comparison between Disney and non-Disney.
Also like POR/POFQ. And obviously you'll be stopping at AKL...so terrific. We ate at Boma earlier this month and were able to wander around outside before eating. Were able to check out some of the construction in the distance. Did see some of the animals though..nice giraffes and others.

Okay, I have a really stupid newbie question. What is TTC? I am on a lot of fertility sites, and I read that as Trying to Concieve, and obviously that is so not what that means here, lol.

My husband and I have talked and we definantly want to see the WL, which we will since we have ADR's there. We also want to see AKL, and again, ADR's. And as for the Contemporary, we have ADR's there too, but will be parking at MK for LOEMH, so that is not an issue anyway. As for the other monorail resorts, I think we will go see them after we eat at Chef Mickey's, then head back to the MK.

I would like to see the Boardwalk and all of it's little shops. Is that where Beaches and Cream is? How would I get there and where would I need to park?

What all is there to do at FtW? Is it fun for kids?

As for POR and POFQ, I will be going to DOwntown one day also, so can I just take a boat from Downtown to those resorts to see them? Is there anything there to see?

My husband and I have talked and we definantly want to see the WL, which we will since we have ADR's there. We also want to see AKL, and again, ADR's. And as for the Contemporary, we have ADR's there too, but will be parking at MK for LOEMH, so that is not an issue anyway. As for the other monorail resorts, I think we will go see them after we eat at Chef Mickey's, then head back to the MK.

We have ADR's wt the Wilderness, so we won't miss it, and we intend to park there since we will be eating there.

Beaches and Cream is at the Beach Club. You can park there or at the Yacht Club. The guard at the gate will give you a three hour pass to eat, shop, and look around. You don't need an ADR to get a short-term parking pass, and you should be able to get a pass at any of the Deluxe resorts. The mods and values typically don't have a parking problem (since you can't monorail or walk to the parks), so you should not have any trouble parking there.

Parking at the TTC would be a great idea if you are planning to be at the resorts for several hours, but you shouldn't have any trouble parking at the resorts for a short time.

- Beaches and Cream is at the Beach Club, also on the Boardwalk. We went there in June and it was great, however you may want to ask another poster or a CM when you are there because when we asked the CMs how to get there, they had us going around in circles....funny, but annoying, as far as parking is concerned you can park right at the BW and just tell the gate that you are here for B&C. And since you want to see BWI and you are going to BC for ice cream, then I would suggest going over to YC which is right next to BC.

- FtW has hayrides/carriage rides, a sing-a-long campfire with Chip and Dale, the Hoop De Due Review is also there plus there is a petting zoo and pony rides. The place is a blast for kids and I highly recommend the sing-a-long campfire with Chip and Dale, they sing songs, eat Smore's and have a movie.

- Yes you can take a boat from DTD to POFQ and POR. The boat is located right next to Rainforest Cafe, but watch the signs because there are also boats that will take you to Sarratoga Springs and Old Key West. The boat for POFQ/POR are the same and it will stop at POFQ first so you can get out and walk around and then you can either walk over to POR or take the ferry over to it, make sure you ask if they are going to POR or are they going to DTD. The ferry ride to POR is such a relaxing and wonderful ride, it takes about 20 minutes and you get to actually see the old Tree Tops that are now converted in what looks like apartments for CMs.

Have fun resort hopping, that is one of my favorite things to do while staying at WDW.

If you are staying at a Disney resort, take a bus to a park or Downtown Disney and go from there. From Downtown Disney take a bus to one of the monorail resorts and look around there and then monorail to the next one and do the same there. Its fun and a good way to see the resorts and kill a day too.

I highly recommend saving some time to spend at the Polynesian (my family's favorite!!).
The tropical, polynesian theme is beautiful with lush green vegetation, piped-in hawaiian music, torch-lit walkways, and white sand beaches. At 6pm most evenings they hold a torch-lighting ceremony and at approx. 9pm you can watch the Electrical Water Pageant and/or the MK fireworks from the beach. (In fact, my favorite spot in all of WDW is in one of the hammocks right there on the beach of the SSL!)
While you're there, be sure to check out all the great shops and restaurants in the Great Ceremonial House too!

From the Polynesian, you can then continue your tour and head to the Grand Floridian. There is a brick walking path the heads west, out past Luau Cove, followed by Disney's Wedding Pavilion, the GF Spa & Health Club, and finally the GF!

We typically stay at the Poly or the WL, but I can't let a trip go by without visiting all the other MK resorts!

If you like shopping, many of the resorts have some clothing items, especially t-shirts and nicer shirts, that have the resort logos and designs on them. I still have a Beach Club shirt I bought a few years ago that is a Hawaiian style of shirt, but with a Beach Club theme on it. It's really nice.
