First my apologies, I was looking for other threads on this topic but I can't seem to find the search feature on the new site.

Today is the first day of our trip available to view the crowd calendar on Touring Plans. I have used Touring Plans as a guide line before and 5 years ago we were in Disneyworld over Easter. It lists MK, HS and AK as a 6 with EP being an 8.

On Easy WDW it lists the day as an 8.

While looking for a third option, I checked another crowd calendar it listed April 5th as a 9 and does not recommend MK or HS (which is the most recommended park on EasyWDW)

As April 5th is our first park day, I like to start in MK but EasyWDW does not recommend it. Now I am very confused as I thought maybe we would start in HS instead?

Any guidance from DIS folks would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly? I ignore the numbers. These days Disney is always busy. Who cares whether somethings a 6 or an 8? Especially on Easter Sunday!

However, EasyWDW does not recommend MK because it has Extra Magic Hours in the morning. A lot of people will try to make it for those and most will sleep in, so it's going to be very busy, especially in the morning. On the other hand, if you have park hoppers and are willing to get up very early, you can be quite successful by getting to the front gates about 40 minutes before EMH starts and making the most of that hour. Then, around 10pm, when things are getting crazy, hop on over to a quieter park (make your 3 FP+ for this second park).

That way, you could start with the MK, and still avoid most of the crowds!

Otherwise, I'd personally opt for either HS or Epcot, depending on which you prefer, and just go in with the expectation that I'll be battling crowds, no matter what.

That is Easter Sunday, far and away in the top 10 most busy days at MK. While the overall crowd level may be an 8 MK will easily be a 9 or 10. On Easter Sunday and Easter week it is not uncommon for MK to have phased closures with guests told to go to other parks as MK is closed for admittance at this time.

We go at Easter and Christmas almost every year in general and we have found AK to be the least busy on holidays followed by HS then Epcot and MK. We usually visit both AK and Hollywood Studios on holidays, reserving FP+ at out later park and relying on the early hours at the first park to get the headliners we want done.

We typically go over Easter and make Easter Sunday a non-park/relax at the resort day. Not sure if that helps but might be an option. Only went once on Easter Sunday and said never again! UGH!

MK will easily be a 10 Easter Sunday, with some phases of closure more than likely happening.

I would avoid MK, it will most likely close to capacity by 10am on Easter Sunday. You should be ok with AK that day.

Keep in mind, while I agree that AK is usually a safe bet, it does have Early Magic Hours on Easter Sunday, just like MK. I'd guess that Disney's hoping to lure more people there, in order to spread the crowds around.

Touring plans is way wrong more than it is right in our experiences.
I find Josh at easywdw much more correct and logical.

Thanks for all your replies. I am thinking we might try HS on the 5th. Unfortunately MK has EMH each day we are there that week so we will have to work with it on at least one day. Hopefully by mid week crowds may not be as bad at MK.

@YYC_Mommy, are you staying on-site? I faced an identical situation and am choosing to use the EMH and leave for a mid day break (even though EasyWDW recommends against it). Works better for my overall plan. But we'll see how it goes in 3 weeks.

Also, for what it's worth, I think EMH make the park more crowded than it would otherwise be, but that doesn't mean that it's the most crowded park that day or even that it will be less crowded on other days. It's one rule I see on EasyWDW that doesn't ring true to me.

Watch out for changes to the hours for that week , they will likely be extended. In the past EMH am has been moved to 7am that week. If you arrive by 6:30 you can get A LOT done by 10am. We frequently go to MK on NYE and have pictures of an empty park at 7am, the crowds don't usually start arriving until 9ish and we usually eat at 11am and then leave.

No we are staying offsite so we usually plan to go to a park that does not have EMH, that week MK has EMH everyday so we will have to work with it on those MK park days.
