I thought about subscribing to Touring Plans to get the crowd calendar for Spring Break period. I was happy to see that on the Spring Break poll here on the DIS only 6% of DIS'ers had their Spring Break the week we are going (week starting 9th April)

The free Calendar is up on TP's and I was shocked to see they rated most days a 9 out of 10 - even higher than end of March (which looks like a peak SP time according to the DIS poll) - we come home a full week before Easter so could this possibly be right?

IDK but one of our dates coming up is that high too.. so in answer to your question.. I HOPE SO! lol

The good thing and bad thing about the late Easter this year. The Spring Brak crowds are stretched over a longer period than most years. The good thing is that streching them thins them over this longer period.

Spring Break is always busy. Just plan well and hope for the best.

I hear that they are wrong sometimes. For example, we were originally planning on going the first week of January (my mom had medical problems and we had to postpone). Touringplans.com had the highest day at a 3, with several under 1 for crowds that week; however, SoCal schools were still off that week and everybody on here reported large crowds that week. So, yes, they can be wrong. I think they just aren't as good at DL as they are at WDW yet (they just started their DL site recently).

I've been a subscriber for about 3 weeks now.

It's been "off" more than not. I go VERY often. The wait times are frequently off by a large margin. The numerical "crowd index" is usually off as well.

Spring break is crowded, but actually, the blockout of AP's tends to thin the crowds somewhat. The week of April 18-22 will be the most crowded, because that is when most schools in Southern CA are off for spring break.

I wonder too how accurate they are. They have 10s for the President's weekend and then 8s and 10s following. We were there during President's week last year and the crowds weren't anywhere close to that level. We're arriving next Saturday and while I expect there to be crowds, I don't expect it to be close to what they're predicting.

Touringplans is quite accurate for DisneyWorld. They have years of statistical data for WDW. But I believe they have only had crowd calendars for Disneyland a rather short time. From what I can see they are guessing based on WDW crowds which is often quite different crowdwise. I think it will be a few years with more data input before Disneyland predictions are as accurate as DisneyWorlds.

Thanks
If they are basing their info on similar dates last year for example - 'our' week' would fall smack bang into Easter - this year we go a good two weeks before.

I was very unhappy with touring plan I used. It was for the week before I returned to school and said it would be a 2 or 3. It was an 8 or 9. Don't count on them. plan for crowds then you are prepared. If you don't have crowds it will be a pleasant surprise.

For Southern California, here are some of the Spring Breaks for the big school districts:

Orange County: April 4 - 15 (this includes Anaheim and surrounding cities)

Los Angeles Unified and Las Virgenes Unified schools: April 18 - 22

Santa Monica/Malibu schools: April 11 - 22

San Diego Unified and Ventura Unified: April 4 - 8

There are many other districts and private schools as well, but as you can see, the entire month of April is going to be Spring Break at the parks.

Do OC really have two weeks at this time - I looked on the OC schools website and it says that public schools have the week commencing 28th March?
