i know that pretty much all of the touring plans say to avoid the parks that have EMH.
am i missing something, isnt that one of the main points of staying onsite? i've booked my ADRs based on what parks have EMH, are they going to be that much busier than the normal non-EMH days? we're going in september if that makes any difference?

No idea for Sept but last August MK EMH was crazy, we have said we won't do an eve EMH again, we probably will but last Aug was not a great experience.
Main benefit is you can go in upto 3 hours after parks close for offsite guests, this is becoming more of a bonus as they are closing parks earlier than ever.

We went the last 2 weeks of September 2006 and loved using the EMH. We didn't find them a nightmare at all. Maybe that was because it was school time and the parks weren't too busy anyway.

We especially liked the evening EMH as we got to go on some of our favourite rides early evening when it was cooler and starting to get dark. This also allowed us to have a swim at the hotel pool during the hot afternoons.

My advice would be try a couple of EMH and see how they go, you can then abandon the idea if it doesn't work for you but to be honest i don't really see it will be a problem in September,

Hope this helps :thumbsup2

I can't remember what the figures are but when you think about how many on-site hotels there are, how many rooms they have and the number of people each room holds it all adds up to a whole load of people all potentially converging on one park at the same time.

Having said that very few people are going to be up in time to manage opening time for morning EMH so you probably won't find those too bad. From what I have heard the opposite is true for evening EMH - the later you stay the less crowded it gets.

EMH is a perk, but at WDW, unlike the other Disney resorts that offer early entry, there are so many more hotels, and thus so many more guests taking advantage. This is why many touring plans think of it as a negative. We have decided to do a few EMH this trip. At MK, only because it now offers BTMRR, Splash and Haunted Mansion during AM EMH because Space Mountain is closed for rehab. We also plan to do an evening EMH there, but only because I am into photography and want to take some night pictures, we do not expect to ride many rides during this time. We are also doing AM and PM EMH and AK, mainly because 1) we are staying at AKL and 2) this seems to be the quitest park for EMH and again I want to take some night photos.

are evening EMH really that busy during september? i mean we plan going to the parks during the day, surely the parks wont be any busier during EMH than they are during the day?

During the day as a whole they will be busier than parks without EMH because everybody will be thinking the same - "I'm staying on site, I'm entitled to EMH so I'm going to the park that has EMH so I can get my monies-worth".

I was at WDW in Jan 08 - Jan is meant to be the quietest month, and evening EMH were crazy (apart from AK which were great :thumbsup2) - 90 mins for all the big rides etc. Epcot in particular seemed busier than through the day!

If you think about it this way...

I have no idea of numbers so this is a total guess lol.

Say 10,000 people go to MK on a normal day. On an EMH day, say 5000 Disney guests will be there early. That is then 15,000 people in the park on that one day.

Like I said, no idea what the actual numbers are, probably a lot more, but you can see why it's busier on EMH days.

I'm not planning by EMH hours. If the day I plan to go to a certain park is an EMH, I will go for that one hour in the morning (if we can get up that early) and another for the rest of the day. We'll most likely go to the evening EMH park at night for a while, see how it is.

Another perk to being Disney guest is the ease of getting around Disney World. So going to AK for a hour in the morning, MK for the day, then Epcot for the evening EMH for example, is easy to do.

We got to EMH both in the mornings and evenings. Mornings are definitely quieter, but we've never had trouble with EMH in September (which is when we've always gone when staying on-site). The only night that turned out stupidly busy was an evening at the Studios when Fantasmic! was on. That was ridiculously busy at Rock 'n' Rollercoaster/ToT that night. But other than that, we've never had any serious issues - no more than 20min waits anywhere. Perhaps we just got lucky, or maybe we're just used to queuing and waiting for the good things that a bit of a queue is nothing. :rotfl:

Always avoid EMH in the morning but sometimes make use of the evening EMH. For us the evenings work much better

We make use of the emh's am & pm. I agree MK evening emh's are a bit manic but we still enjoy it. Ak is fab at night, it feels like a different park & gets quiter as the evening goes on. Last year we stayed on Kali for 6 turns, had a lovely time getting to know the 2 other families we were riding with & did EE 6 times walk on, this was at the end of the night.

Oh thanks for the info. I hate visiting AK in the daytime - it's the hottest park by far - so always drag everyone away by 11am at the earliest, so we are going to make use of the EMH Eves at AK; it sounds like it's going to be great fun!

We only did one last time, evening EMH at DHS and we ended up leaving sharpish anyway! We'd been there all day and stayed for Fantasmic and it was just totally manic afterwards (this was September btw!) Queues and crowds all way more than we wanted to deal with. We used the Unofficial Guide busy day guide last time which as mentioned tends to avoid EMHs and are planning to follow TGM's busy day guide this time which I imagine does the same. I'm not generally one for parkhopping but since this trip will be different to my others (only WDW this time and we have 9 nights so can afford to be a little more relaxed in our park touring) so may well decide to take advantage of EMH in a different park to our 'main' one that day.

we used them last sept and had no problems what so ever, we rode some rides in mk time after time with no queuing one night
