Here now have been to 3 parks.I am planner, bought touring plans, tour guide mike, passport book I had a plan....well with a 3 and 5 yo we never made rode drop and never followed any plans, just impossible I dont know how people do iit! I did do the best park day but wouldnt know if that was accurate the first couple days were good then yesterday at ak was packed. Think rushing around making everyone follow a plan would make everyone miserable....maybe it works for some??

We've done 44 trips so far and plans go out the window....especially subscription services....who can tell the difference between a, say 5 or 7? With guests spread out over the park, 2000 more.....4000 more guests....who's counting...we sure don't. Our vacation is scheduled during value season away from holidays etc.....we're going then no matter what any service or counter says.....we have no touring plan...we're not going to run across a park for this or that because someone guessed it might be better...that's not a vacation. We enter the park of our choosing, usually the EMH parks and travel in one direction taking each attraction as we come to it, long long line we either FP it or skip it...no big deal!

The heat and humidity can take most of the starch out of anyone, hard to beat the heat but we go back to the resort when the crowds get thick or the sun unbearable and enjoy the resort pool then head back out later in the day.....no opening to close for us...to chaotic and not necessary....we paid for a deluxe resort and we intend to use it too. As for subscription services and touring guides....who can guess the attendance level in the future? Don't believe in them and never will waste my money on them.

Same for the dining plan....doesn't save us money, we hate Disney TS food, and do not want to be tied to a schedule....we go and do what we want, when we want.....we have a great time, no worries and get everything done we want...at our pace and style.....others can have those structured vacations...

Having to map out a touring plan and follow a time line in a park is not my idea of a vacation. Some WDW thrill seekers love it and I'm happy for them. But my goal is NO STRESS, to relax and enjoy my time with my family, Mickey and Company, and stay at the Poly. I'm not driving, arguing, keeping a time line, complaining, or otherwise wasting valuable time on trying to do the impossible. (I do plan Cirq and make ressies)

I find it much less stressful to have a plan than it is to wander around trying to figure out what to do next. Just because I have a well though out plan doesn't mean that we have to rigidly stick to it.

I'm with Alesia - so much less stressful to me to have a plan in mind. It works for us.

Even without a plan though, I wouldn't miss rope drop on most of our park touring days (when we do miss rope drop, it's intentional and in the plan.

I agree, but we normally wake up at 5:30, so waking up at 7:30 is still sleeping in to us.

I LOVE the touring plans, but then our whole party consists of teens and adults. Also we don't have the luxury with school schedules of going anytime except high season -- typically Christmas or Spring Break.

We all look at the plans the night before and put in a few subtractions, additions and changes. This is wonderful with our large group too, as no one is saying -- what do we do next when we're at the parks.

We find what they suggest to be a very efficien order to do things, and find that we save lots of time in line by following these vs. doing our own best guesses.

We've always loved the touring plans because they REDUCE stress, even when my children were preschoolers. If you're not the type of family that can get the gang going earlier enough for rope drop, then I can see why plans wouldn't work. It's a matter of personality and family style.
