Touring Epcot without FP+?

I'm taking my DW and DD2 to Epcot on a 4/10 crowd day. Our touring projects surprisingly short wait times even without FP+ (5-10 mins). We're skipping Test Track, Mission Space, and Soarin because DW is not interested and DD is too small.

So what to do with all those FP+ slots? I could:
1) Nevertheless use FP+ on a couple of our family rides in case lines get long (spaceship earth, turtle talk, living with the land, etc)
2) Use them as a Dad-bonus. Book Mission Space and Test Track in the afternoon, and run off for some quick solo fun while DW and DD relax elsewhere in the park

What would you do?

I would do illuminations, turtle talk, and spaceship earth. If you don't end up using them no big loss but they might come in handy.

Definitely the Dad-bonus idea! You can book them for everybody and keep their MBs when they leave (make sure they have a way to get into the room), then you can ride everything multiple times (one FP per MB).

do the dad bonus thing...but TT has a single rider line, so use that instead of a FP if it is only going to be you....so grab a Soarin FP if you want to ride it. TT by single rider, and MS (if you are doing orange...if you only want green, the wait for that is rarely long at all).

Another vote for Dad-bonus...then if you get there and lines for everything are longer than predicted, you can change the FPs to Spaceship Earth, Crush, etc. (Whereas you probably wouldn't be able to easily switch from the kiddie rides to the thrill rides.)

Only you know if you would want to run off and ride TT by yourself! Me? I wouldn't really. I don't care for riding rides solo. If you would, then I would take the Tier-1's for a TT and a Soarin, and ride them. If that's not you, then there's no reason to do this. Go for Illuminations instead -- if you'd be staying till the fireworks, which you might not w a DD2.

I would take the others for Imagination and Nemo as a family. DD2 will love these, and they will save you time. Don't be fooled by sites telling you 5-10 min waits. They may be 5-10 min, but if they're longer, you'll be glad you had FPs.

We did a mix of both on our past trip. I was (well still am) pregnant, so the headliners were out for me. You are correct in your assumption about Epcot being a "waste" with FP+. Outside of Soarin and TT there is no need for any FP+ on a slow day. TT has single rider, so that doesn't need any anyway. MS rarely has a long line. We booked soarin (since I could ride it), SE and maelstrom. Oddly enough SE did have a long line at certain points during the trip so we were happy to have the FP+. Granted if we came back on hour later there was a zero wait, but at that moment it was handy to have. :) And everyone knew maelstrom was leaving so the lines were crazy for it.
