We are new members and will be going to the Boardwalk in May. We were wondering if we could visit the other vacation club resorts to see what they are like. Do they have models open to look at or is that limited to SSR? We were specifically interested in seeing the Villas at Wilderness Lodge, Old Key West, the Beach Club, and Vero Beach. Thank you in advance!

SSR is the only place with a model to look at that I know of, there used to be one at BW. You can visit the outside of these resorts of course but getting into see a room might be a little difficult, unless you were a serious buyer. There are no personnel at the other places that are there to do this anymore, years ago I got to see a grand-villa but I had to wait until a guide(salesman was free).

With the exception of old key west all the dvc resorts have the exact same layouts. The decor is different but layouts are the same. Old key west is larger than the others. it has a better layout which gives it a much roomier feeling. if you want to look at the other dvc resort go to wdwig.com they have photo links of all the resorts.

You can certainly walk around the grounds and tour the common areas. If there is a CM available to show you a room, some of the resorts might be able to have a CM take you up to a room to have a look.

The model villa at BWV was still open when we were there in late January. I know you said you are staying at BWV but if you are staying in a studio and want to see what a 1BR looks like or vice versa, you can walk through the model villa -- it is right on the boardwalk.

We drove down to VB to look it over and asked nicely at the front desk if we could see one of the rooms. A very nice CM took us up to see an Ocean View Inn room. This would be subject to having an empty room and an available CM of course.

We toured the model at SSR during member hours (5pm-7pm). We stayed a few nights at VWL and OKW that trip so that covered those resorts but you could try asking at the desk at those resorts and see. The villas at OKW and VWL would be a bit of a hike from the check-in desk so it may not be possible for a CM to leave the desk for that long to take you on a room tour, but it doesn't hurt to ask. If they are not swamped with people checking in they might be able to accommodate you.

We walked around the grounds at BCV but didn't ask to see a room since we figured they were pretty similar to VWL and BWV except for decor and having an oblong table and bench seat which we knew from the 360 degree tour on the DVC website.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for your replies. Even if we can't see a room that's fine. Someone said the rooms are pretty much the same set up, just the decorating will be different, but they will all have the same amenities. As long as we are able to walk through the main lobby, and see the pools and other common areas that will be great so we can get a feel for the different themeing. I can't wait to stay at them all. I thought I was addicted to Disney before we joined the DVC, now I'm totally over the edge!

We did that earlier this month (our first trip Home), went to all the resorts and just walked around to get a feel of the place, kids checking out the pools for future reference...it was a fun filled morning, and we were able to time it right to have lunch at Beaches & Cream (lunch = ice cream :rotfl: )

Have fun exploring!

I was wondering the exact same thing for our trip in August. We just bought into SSR but I would love to check out the VWL and the BCV. The gelato at the BCV marketplace is calling me. :teeth:
