Recently I took the tour of Morocco in Epcot. I'd heard they had such a tour, free, but I could never find anyone who'd done it. But this was a solo trip, not much of a schedule, so why not try it? As of December, it was offered twice a day, 1:00 and 3:00. You don't pre-register, just show up a few minutes before the appointed time. Our guide began with a map of Morocco that he used to describe some of the climates and relevant cities. Then he took us around to see some of the areas of the pavillion and explained how they portrayed Moroccan life. Sure, there was a little salesmanship-he took us in to see how lovely their resturaunt was, walked us through all the shops and pointed out some souveniers we might want to buy. But overall, I thought the tour was well worth the time-it made me appreciate the Moroccan pavillion a lot more, and as a person whose weakness is Geography, I really learned a lot from the map. If you want something different to do for 1/2 hour or so, I'd really recommend it. Little ones would most likely find it boring however. It was educational, not entertaining.

We also did this tour and had a delightful young lady who answered all kinds of questions about her home country and about how women were treated. She explained everything, shared her experience on being chosen to particpate in the program and how happy her father and brother were for her.

And when I asked if her marriage would be arranged, she said it would be, but that it was not like it was some stranger and she had no say at all. She would have a list of young men that she was somewhat interested in, her parents would take that list and add onto it if they thought there was someone else that would make a good match and that she would have complete veto power. As she said (with a laugh), "They love me and want me to be happy after all."

Very fun and interesting!
