We went in 2005 knowing very little and then in 2007 after I'd discovered you guys. You gave us so much info & it really improved our trip. I'm wondering if it would be worth using Tour Guide Mike for our trip in aug 08? Can anyone advise.

I have always used Tourguide Mike. You get a reduced rate the more often you join. I think I paid aroun 6.00 for my latest subscription and I wouldn't be without him. Especially for the touring plans. Never waited more than 10 mins for a ride, unless I have gone against his advise. DH and DS waited 2 hours to go on the Yeti thing in AK. I told them they should have got up earlier so we could secure FP as tourguide Mike said we should!! They have lived and learned. Always did what I suggested after that!!!

I used him last year but I'm not going to this year, he was late putting up my best dates so I had to work them out myself (got them all right too!) and from lots of reports I've been reading he's being really late with best days this year too!!!! To be honest most of his stuff is common sense and can be found out for free here on the DIS, lots of his secrets aren't secrets anymore either  A DISer friend who is a complete TGM fan is even asking for a refund this year and subbing to touring plans as they tailor individual TP's for you :thumbsup2

Please don't flame me for saying I don't like TGM :flower3:

couldnt resist it. Naughty me

I subscribed last year and thought it was a waste of money.

I would read books and research on the net.

we used him last august, like yourselves we had been two times before....we thought he was worth every penny...great advice ...we didnt wait in line for anything...which in august was brilliant...would we use him again... YES...be prepared for a lot of reading on his website though...the guys on his forums were invaluable too.:worship:

Thank you for your replies.
Disneyjo - What do you mean best dates, is it best days for each park?

Sorry Sharon I meant to type best days, he tells you which parks you should visit on which days, he will give each park a colour, green amber and red, obviously the green parks are the ones to go to that day :thumbsup2

We used TGM for our christmas/new year trip to WDW and found the advice very worthwhile (especially knowing the best days to go to which park which I had not read about here). Next time we go to WDW I will definately subscribe to him again.
For our Disneyland trip in the summer we are using ridemax, they are different to TGM in that you get advice plus you put into the computer programme they day and park you want to visit plus the rides you want to go on and it tells you the best order to do this in.
In the grand scheme of things, the amount it costs us to get to WDW in the 1st place, a little extra for TGM or ridemax is worth it IMHO. I think the next WDW trip we do I will subscribe to both.

If you follow the Disboards link on Vacation Planning you get a discount for TGM. I used him and Ridemax for my last trip to try them out. I found suggestions and tips on his site that I had not seen elsewhere and like others felt the cost was not huge in the scheme of things and worth it. Ridemax is a bit more expensive but I bought a years worth so it will cover two trips. I never got around to following any of ridemaxs plans but they did seem to make sense.

I followed TGM MK touring plan, drove my mum mad rushing from one end of the park to the other however by 11am(on the recommended less busy day) we had done loads including the whole of fantasyland, BTM, Splash Mountain, POTC, Jungle Cruise, and a few other small rides. We did not use it in the other parks as much as my DD had less "must do rides"

We used TGM on our trip last August and found his tips really useful - This was our third trip but our first during peak season and so we thought we could use a bit of help! Whilst we didn't follow his plan to the letter we rode every ride we wanted to with minimal waits (the longest was 20 minutes) and even had time to return to the villa for an afternoon nap!

Do you get the info on best days sent to you in time to book ADR's or is that too early to judge?
